Barry Melrose gives his take on the LA Kings trade for Marian Gaborik during NHL Live on 3/7/14.

DL stated he targeted Gaborik and expressed his desire to possibly even extend him in the offseason depending on his health and his play during the stretch.

You would think with the abundance of information and video out on the intranets that these guys would do their homework and know where GMs are coming from...?

I don't suppose DL would come out and say that Gaborik was option number 4 even if that was the case. I think Gaborik will be a good fit, it would be great if he can stay healthy ala Jdub.

Melrose sounded so stupid on his analysis on Gaborik and his fit on the team.

Maybe DL went after Gaborik because he isn't a kings type player, just like carter, it adds a certain dynamic to the team. You need players like that.

Gaborik is the best fit, better than Cammaleri/Moulson. He adds speed and goal scoring. A dynamic that carter has, and that turned out pretty well.

What the hell do Cammy and Moulson do better than Gabby? That's what makes his analysis so ridiculously uninformed. They certainly aren't better scorers. At least Gabby has the potential with his speed to back check. The other guys are slow. And the reasoning that Cammy is a better fit because once upon he played in LA? LMAO who's left from back then? Brown and Quick? Stupidity. His greatest contribution was being on a Kings team bad enough to draft Drew Doughty.

Barry is one of those guys that loves his Canadian hockey players, even more so if they are from Western Canada. Cammalleri was the best fit? Does he know anything about what Dean really thinks of Cammalleri? I doubt that Cammalleri was even seriously considered in spite of the reports in the media.
