Post-Game Talk: #3 - 1/19/21 | Devils @ Rangers

Lindgren-Trouba were giving me heart palpitations all game but they were actually really good . might've been Trouba's best game this year, he even had a great assist on Hughes' goal lol

Strome is f***ing dog shit and is actively blocking Chytil who is already better than him at everything besides getting a f*** load of TOI with Panarin

I was running on a treadmill most of the game and mother of god some of the shit Fox pulls on the PP made me audibly gasp. He's an absolute wizard.

Georgiev is great or not NHL caliber. No inbetween.

Kakko/Chytil are a great combo. They're running trains on everyone offensively, it's a shame they don't have the numbers to show for it.

Buch made a hell of a play on that 3rd goal. He's gonna have quite a year.

Johnson is a passable 6D against teams that can't skate at an NHL level like the Isles. Anyone else and he's an even stupider Staal and I didn't think that was possible.

ALF's worst game so far, easily.

Also I f***ing hate Strome.

We pumped 50 shots with quite a few of them being high quality. We probably didn't deserve the win but if Georgiev can stop a beachball we win that game 9/10 times.

So so much about success for these top prospects is based off confidence. Kakko was flying in that first period. Quinn instead of rewarding him gives him nothing.

Star prospect in lafreniere you BUILD AROUND HIM you don’t move him to a position he doesn’t play because you think he’s the closest guy to Jesper friggen Fast in terms of his grind.

Quinn is tearing the ass out of these kids

lafreniere kakko Chytil Kravtsov Add gauthier too a guy who was dominating the A when he got here can’t do anything now. none of them have looked their best under this coach.

I don’t think there is anything developmental about Quinn’s hockey

Are the biggest complaints on Quinn after this game player mgmt and not challenging that kicked goal?

because challenges like the goal for just about all done upstairs nowadays. I didn’t notice the offsides one honestly. Most of the third period he stuck with Fox, kreider, Panarin and Zbad to try and tie it up.

I’m not really a Quinn apologist, but we lost. It happens.

It's human nature to stop listening to a guy who yells at you for years. It's unavoidable.

And, management always makes coaching changes when things aren't great to take attention away from their mistakes.

its problematic that the second line center gets more ice time than the third line center? Kakko, Lafreniere, and Gauthier have nothing to do with Strome. I don’t like strome at all but given he was re-singed him playing more than Chytil is obvious

They were out there because our 1st line Plus Panarin and Strome player like 5 consecutives minutes before and Zibanejad manage to get probably a concussion by himself.
Chytil got 13 min, because of the Zibanejad injury, not because Quinn wanted to.

No it's problematic that their TOI disparity in all situations is THAT drastic.

This isn't even a Strome on PP1 thing. The 2nd unit should get at least SOME time and it's not like the 1st unit has been unconscious so far.

That’s why Strome got a short term deal. His MO is to pass when he can shoot. He is what he is.

There was nothing inconsistent about how the young players performed tonight. If they had more ice time instead of gassing out 10,20, 93, and giving Strome a solid 10 minutes of ice time that could have gone to Chytil or Howden or somebody else on the 10 minutes of PP, then we would have came back and won.

second units are consistently significantly less efficient than first units. They don’t need to get ice time unless the guys for the first unit were on the ice when the penalty was drawn.

Special teams are a big part of the problem. Buch, Kakko or Lafreniere should be playing over Strome on the 1st PP unit, and Chytil should be playing on the 2nd unit above Howden, Lemieux or even Strome.
 
Anyone have a replay of the last Rangers goal. Looked offsides, but I guess since it went unchallenged, it wasn't.

You can’t just give people more ice time without taking ice time away from other players.
