After three lackluster games from Strome, Quinn needs to not be a hypocrite about accountability and sit him or demote him and his ice time at least. I knew JJ would have a rough game. NJ is faster than NYI, and damn he was slow out there.

I do wonder with Trouba how much any potential COVID after effects are having on him

He had it less than a month ago and his speed has been less than ideal thus far

If you have a left shot that can score from where Mika scored on the PP, you would score more goals. Would also say the same for the Draisaitl shot on the PP. Kreids should go for some of the through the legs chances, basically go Anders Lee on Super Solider serum in front of the net.

That would take the PP to another level. Buch/Kakko/Laf

Even running WSH's setup with one of those LHS in the Backstrom spot would be a huge improvement over what we've been doing. They aren't cycling enough or running any set plays through the right side of the ice, and it's allowing the PKers to keep smaller gaps and not break structure.

If they're going to use Mika as a bumper like Oshie, they need that LHS there to be a one-timer option to keep the goalie honest. Plus, it gives you an easier time to pass in a triangle from the point/bumper to the left circle. Having Kreider in front of the net is always going to increase your odds of getting a screened shot through too.

The only thing Strome did of consequence on the right side was a backdoor play. They sorely lack the bumper play that I swear I used to see with Mika on the right side one-timing it from a left-handed feed.

yeah I don't know why the don't use the bumper more often. What the hell is the point of using the 1-3-1 if you are just going to neglect the middle of the ice and continually move the puck along the perimeter.

Well that’s kind of the point. Some people said “if he can keep up this production...” “maybe he’s turned a corner/late bloomer...” then he could be a surprise solution at 2C for us. Others said, even if being stapled to Panarin leads to him being a 60 point player, he’s still kind of a net negative.

I also pointed out, about a dozen times (probably more) that last year was, not only a contract year, but a year where he probably knew that if he didn’t show up, he could be in Europe or on a one year league minimum deal next, and that giving him any kind of pay day could likely see him revert to his typical self. Here is with 9M guaranteed and looking a lot like his pre-Panarin self.
