2nd Favorite Eastern Conference Team

If the Rangers had never existed, I would probably have been an Islanders fan by sheer geographic proximity.

Well, now that I'm nauseous...

If the Rangers were to disappear and I had to pick a team in the east, it would probably be the Blue Jackets. Next in line would be the Red Wings.

Notice a pattern there?
 
It's between Ottawa, Blue Jackets and Red Wings for me, but since I don't count the Jackets or Wings as eastern conference teams just yet I went with Ottawa.

Don't feel too nauseous, I've had some NYR-fan friends tell me they would consider pulling for the Islanders. We live pretty close to the Arena at Harbor Yard and they've grown up watching the Sound Tigers develop. It's also hard to think about the Islanders as fierce rivals with them being so bad for so long.
 
10 years ago it'd be the Devils. Moved to NJ during the cup runs and they're dominance. Gross.

Now Buffalo. Live there and love the area and enjoy the team and enjoy the atmosphere. Not saying much cause they've always been my runner up.
 
Now it's Detroit. Before that it was either Tampa Bay or Florida.
 
If they never existed, wouldn't most of us be NJ/NYI fans? If the Rangers joined the KHL or something, I'd probably root for the Panthers...

...no, **** that, definitely the Red Wings; not 'cause they're good, I just always thought they were cool. Child of the 90's.

I used to like the Lightning a little, before they were the Tampa Bay Maple Leafs. I liked the Lightning before it was cool.

Or I could pick the Penguins because they have Crosby and he's really good!

Actually, I don't mind Tampa. They've never wronged anyone, doesn't have any goons, over rated, or detestable characters on their team. It always helps that they haven't won much since I started following hockey. The face of their Franchise is as balanced of a guy as we can expect from hockey.
 
Tampa was always my 2nd fav. Eastern team. In the West it has always been the Sharks, simply because of the name which links them to my fav. Rugby team (Natal Sharks from Durban, South Africa).

With Columbus moving to the East, it will be difficult to cheer for them (as so many Ranger fans do because of the number of former Rangers in their team) since they are in the same division
 
Well, not having read that "If the NYR didnt exist thing", because then I'd prob have went for Buff, but that's hard to say, cuz I prob wouldnt hate the Piles and Devs then... so I GUESS the Piles, but going on your credentials, I'd say Buff, HOWEVER, I DIDNT read that, and considered who I'd root for WITH the NYR existing...

And EASILY clicked the Red Wings box, as I havent learned to hate them due to their being a Western team, and due to my having always respected the **** out of them.
