Phil is what we all knew he was in his last few years here. And we all had/have friends like him.

The guy never put in the work because he didn't have to. Until he had to, but he didn't.

Kessel is going to have a hard time getting into the HHoF. It shouldn't be that way because of his talent. But he's going to have a hard time.

Oh man, this GDT is going to be so insufferable, which sucks because you did a good job @Ugene Malkin , but it's going to be a Pixies & Co. circle jerk of Kessel hatred that is going to be just unbearable. I don't care if Kessel is struggling or doing well, he's not a Penguin and he's not on a team I hate/dislike. But boy the jilted ex type of comments about the guy that is going to be taking up this GDT...yeesh.

LGP!

Hope Jarry starts.
Hope Rust is back sooner rather than later.
Hope Malkin has a 5pt night.
Hope Chucky has a hattrick.
Hoping Noesen, Kahun, McCann also put up pts.

Have a good GDT.

Arizona plays at Philly the night before. Must win for us.

So by that account Detroit will have had like four days off before they play us on Saturday and it'll be a b2b for us, so they should win that one going away...lol

We dont win 2 more cups if not for him. That has to be considered. And we will see how long he plays..if he keeps putting up close to a ppg for another 5 years he should get in.

Idk if its anything to do with not working hard. But I do know he prob made himself worse come playoff time because he wanted to keep that ironman streak alive and didn't take a few weeks off to get healthy for the playoffs. He went from being dominant to a mess in one playoff season. He had to be injured. Sully said no but there were reports of it when we traded for Brassard. That Kessel got hurt in that Panthers game(went into the boards). But then Kessel didnt miss any time, yet suddenly looked like he couldnt handle the puck let alone score as he used to. And didnt gel with Brassard at all. We blamed Brassard but he looks fine now

Definitely looking forward to the tribute they give Kessel. Those four years came and gone so fast. Great memories. Such a vital part to the B2B Cups.

For sure. And everyone better give him a hell of an ovation. This team could have been stuck in purgatory still if not for him. I wanted him gone after the last two seasons(and cuz of his age of course, if he was only 25-26 it's a diff story) but still realize he was the main reason we got those 2 cups.

Btw those first two seasons he put up less points in reg season and was much better in the playoffs. The next two years...90+ points but not a factor in the playoffs. Just a coincidence or was he either injured or out of gas by then?

He had 12g 11a in his first 40 games here. Didnt get off to a great start. Then HBK was born. So how about we let AG play at least half of a season before wanting him gone? 19gp - 2g 8a 10p. While being shuffled around and our top players being out for long stretches at a time. Hes had no consistency here yet with a healthy lineup.

Lets see what his numbers look like come Feb.

Whether its with McCann and us having that duo be a factor for the playoffs or he picks up his play and they decide to move him on line 1 or 2.

For the record, Kessel scored more points in the playoffs last year than any Pens forward outside of Malkin.

Yeah we can't really judge last year's playoffs....since we only played 4 games. Who knows what happens if we won that series and go on a run. I didnt like the makeup of our team tho. Sully rolling with a " shutdown" 3rd line of Simon- Bjugstad - Hornqvist who not only didnt score but were on the ice for the most goals allowed. Sitting Blueger after how great he did replacing Malkin as 2C. Goes from that to a HS. Made zero sense.

McCann wasnt the player he is now.

2018 we still had what it took to go all the way and 3peat. Murray prevented that(yes i know we had bad team D but we had those lapses during both cup runs too and he made those saves). But last year we were in that transition stage.

If we can just get healthy and stay that way this season, we'd be a top contender. Especially since half of our team will have only played 50-60 games.
