That is not worth getting upset over, it's corny. Warm cities always make fun of snowy cities in the winter.

The context is people were killed by that particular storm as well as a lot of structures and businesses destroyed from collapses due to the weight of all that snow. Thats why they were upset. I doubt anyone would care without that context.

Tallon apologized to Pegula and Murray and thats seems to be the end of it.

While I did have a little chuckle at the penguin footage, gotta agree with T-Pegs that it's pretty tasteless/classless to do something like that right after a snow storm that claimed a dozen people's lives and wreaked havoc on a lot of property. But, then again... penguins.

This isn't aimed at you since you don't seem to care much, but they get heat waves in Florida that take 10 lives a piece, you know? I don't see why it would be taboo to show snow storm footage, considering that it was national news, but the deaths were not (didn't hear about them where I am). They probably just googled "buffalo snow storm," and took whatever they found. You have to look at intent, if you want to be taken seriously, right? It was obviously not meant maliciously. And I'm a PC liberal who doesn't use any slanderous or controversial terms at all, if I can help it, and am all about thinking of other people's feeling when you speak. But this is just a harmless joke. Whatever, everybody's offended these days.

The death toll of the storm was absolutely national news. It was on the frontpage of cnn.com

The video is stupid. Tasteless.

The Panthers of all organizations shouldn't be firing shots at anyone.

Because anytime anyone makes a joke about Buffalo the Buffalo inferiority complex kicks in.

This is not about a "complex". Just flip the scenario around and imagine how tasteless and juvenile it would be for Buffalo to show hurricane damage from real storms where people died, at games with Fla, TB, or Car as the visitors.

Matter of fact it goes a bit beyond that. As a frequent visitor to Carolina games when Buffalo is there, they would play many an insulting video which would fuel the fire of the fan interaction. An already contentious routine was made worse by the ensuing trash talk throughout the games. Buf fans would show up ready anything (as usual), Car fans would get offended by the number of fans and the passion they brought. Carolina video guys would show these insulting skits and fuel incidents that, after a few seasons, led to Car fans simply staying home for Buffalo games.

The Hurricanes finally figured out that they were losing money and realized that, just maybe, they shouldn't play these videos full of 9th grade humor and get everyone pissed off. I actually know this to be true. Teams need to be responsible for their product both on and off the ice.

The ultimate joke's on the Panthers.

Buffalo can get more fans to a game in midst of that storm to see a last-place team, than south Florida can get to see a decent team in perfect weather.

So which of those organizations is the joke?

NHL teams should stop trying to be funny, thanks to the LA Kings twitter page every team has now followed suit.

They seriously love being victims in Buffalo, don't they. I was visiting my parents over the summer and there was this big controversy because a new store in the mall had "no goal" in mosaic embedded into their floor, thinking they were relating to the locals. Well, you would've thought it was a store that catered to child murderers by the way people reacted. "boycott them! So insensitive!" I literally couldn't believe they were serious.

I saw the twin towers fall from my rooftop and comedians were making jokes about it within a week. Humor is what brings people together and heals - if you look at intent, you usually don't have to get all worked up about innocent jokes.

Lol didn't NYC residents get their panties in a bunch over a teenage mutant ninja turtle poster showing a tower blow up ?

Talk about sensitivity issues.

Ok, if that's true and not an exaggeration, the jokes would've been in some kind of context that didn't make light or poke fun at victims, or these jokes were said in a small circle and not in front of cameras, or in a tight group of socialist circle jerks...or something.

Bottom line, jokes are fun and most people like me enjoy them. Making fun of a weather related event that killed people, in front of people who live there or have ties there, is quite obviously a poor decision.

Chris Rock took heat about making 9/11 jokes a month or two ago ... almost 15 years after the tragedy. Lets not pretend it was considered acceptable for comedians to be doing it within a week ...

Comedians that push the edge of people's sensibilities seldom fit within "acceptable". People freaked out when Tracy Morgan, the most absurd comedian around, made jokes about killing his gay son. his whole schict is saying crazy ridiculous stuff. Lot's of people are pc cops.

The bigger problem is the Panthers are not comedians trying to be humorous to a comedy club. They are a hockey club who has no business in the gray area of funny or offensive. Not that I think those idiots knew what they were doing.

Few teams have funny media guys: Dallas has the best.

Florida is a bad team with good players and a bad fanbase.

Poor decision by Florida on ragging on Buffalo. Just wish we won this. Definitely was winnable

I'm probably the least PC person on this board. I'm a huge advocate for free speech...even speech I don't agree with. Comedians are entitled to this as well ..they have every right to be edgy and controversial. I still don't find humor in 9/11 jokes personally.

I'm sorry, I wasn't suggesting you personally as the standard for "acceptable" I meant as a generic, Chris Rock got in trouble. I mean trouble is just another way of saying someone didn't like it, and wanted to tell everyone that they shouldn't like it either. Which is their right, but it doesn't create a standard for how long time must pass for when some would find a 911 joke funny or not.

I understand what they were trying to do with the stereotypical WNY climate jokes. Poor execution taking images from that particular storm. I don't think there was malice there. They apologized. Time to move on.
