Frederic fits into the age group of the wings, plays with more edge than anyone (especially forwards) on the team, can play center and while having a down year this year the last 2 and a bit seasons he has 43 goals. Motte, Veleno and Fischer have pretty much combined for that while not playing a physical game at all.

You can get rid of guys like Veleno or Motte etc pretty easily. Frederic is a different, much more valuable player.

I'm not in love with Schenn but give me him in the playoff running guys over and killing penalties while keeping Holl out of the line up.

He's 1000 games into his career, he's never broken down like that yet. For the right price, I like him wayyyyy more than Holl come playoff time

We shouldn't target Frederic if hes not signed, and yes he's a improvement over veleno who'd have to be moved. My concern is for next season, too many guys under contract in the bottom 6 roles

Mazur, buch, danielson might be up for spots. Don't want to be put in a position to move picks again like the Walkman deal

Wont happen but I'd have np bringing up danielson or mazur if we can move compher or more realistically tarasenko now

What do you think it would cost to land frederic ?? And what would be the contract in range you'd think? I don't know if yzerman would do it but I think he'd be a good candidate for a seth Jarvis type contract??

Probably will want 4mill range ? Maybe we can convince him to take 3.5 x5 and send him 750k a year starting when hes like 40?

I'd like to see us make a bigger move and target cozens/pettersson if they're even moved

I'm with you in that I would like adding a player like that. I just would rather pay more and try to get a younger version of that player. (Hague, for example)

And I guess what you mean by never broken down like that. If you look at his game logs the last 4-5 years, I see the guy has missed a decent amount of games, and that is while not playing the most minutes either.

What a hell, we should pull this trigger. o_O

Staying in the West, I hear the Kings are desperate to shake things up to give themselves the best shot of getting out of the first round of the playoffs and not suffer another defeat against Edmonton.
Quinton Byfield isn't a name we've heard come up in trade rumours until this week, but suddenly he could be in play. Perhaps he is the player Los Angeles can move to change their look for an opening playoff round.

Rob Blake is an idiot.

Rob Blake doesn't have anything to do with websites trying to create clicks leading up to the trade deadline

Would he? He's a different flavor of Holl, but no more effective.
FWIW...

yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Frederic brought in, either. Frederic/Veleno/Fischer doesn't sound like a bad 4th line with decent size and physical play.

From the same article:

Mattias Samuelsson

"Two Sabres defencemen appear on this list, but it's unlikely that GM Kevyn Adams would move both of them by the deadline. In Samuelsson, Buffalo has a defenceman signed at a $4.285 million rate through 2029-30 -- an extremely valuable deal, given he's only 24, leads Sabres blueliners in penalty killing minutes, and is charged with plenty of defensive zone matchups.

"The feeling remains that if the Sabres find a home for Samuelsson that returns them a good price, they could turn around and re-sign Byram. Or, if Byram fetches an intriguing return, Adams could instead go that route and keep Samuelsson for the top four."

Seems like a good age and style of player to target.

What about calling Seattle about Montour? He just signed that big contract and they suck. Chiarot and Holl will be off the roster soon and so will Petry. Right hander. Don't like his contract but it probably wouldn't cost a ton. If they retain some id be down. If they retain 2M AAV id go for it. Wow it's year one of 7 though. But the cap is going up. If they retain 3M lol.
