Chychrun wouldn't be a bad option, he will be 27. Pettersson would be an option but will be 29, so could be a scary deal to hand out. Maybe Gavrikov?

Yes to Ehlers tho if he makes it.

Rumors are that the Wild is trying really hard to move Rossi, would love for the Wings to be in on him. Another guy appearing to be available is Alexander Alexeyev in Washington, saw him last year and he seems to be a young dman who can be reliable and won't cost much.

Why is the 2nd place team in the league trying really hard to move their near point-per-game 23 year old center?

This years Necas. Except he actually plays center.

"IF" he is available you'd be an idiot to not be interested.

He is not a PP merchant. Most of his points are 5on5.

He is however, a Kaprizov merchant. I'm leery of players having career years that are linemates of superstars that are popping off and also having career years. Rossi isn't the guy driving said production.

that's the thing, though: why would minny ever be moving that guy?

Yeah, I kept seeing him referenced as a trade target from the board, I think Servalli, etc. which flat out just doesn't make sense?

But there does seem to be a lot of written articles basically around:

1) they are in cap hell, will need to sign him even to a bridge, and it becomes a choice between him vs. another member of the core

2) he's small ... which is not their 'style', and it makes them nervous to commit to him long term because of his size

3) there seems to be friction between him and the organization/coaching staff

Absolutely no clue if there is any validitiy to any of this, but I was just a confused as you were so I looked into it

Couldn't tell ya, the only thing would be Guerin and the staff don't like him. Suter and Parise money stops knee capping them next summer so there is 14 mil freed up. Sure you could say well maybe to afford Kaprizov, but he's up in the 2026 free agency and cap is probably 100 mil by then. So don't think having the cash to pay him will be the issue.

It's why I said Necas, probably just a lot of empty talk and they don't move him.

Yeah, that's where I'd be on it. Moving him just doesn't make sense from nearly any angle.

Is there a rundown somewhere with how many points he has gotten with Kaprizov? No doubt would would benefit from such things, but I do notice he plays other games with Hartman and Foligno.

I understand there are some Abdelkader like stat lines for some, but it's not always the case.

They do free up the 14M from the retained, but 7M of that is already spoken for with the Faber extension up from 1 to 8 starting next year. That leaves them with 7M to fill a number of lower end spots, not the hardest to do especially if we end up with another 6 or 7M in cap. You think getting him a 3yr 6-7M AAV as a bridge wouldn't be hard for them and still find enough for a couple of bottom a pair D, and 3rd line C and a backup G.

I think it comes down to probably the mgmt/coach liking him or not and if they want to make that investment into him, regardless of talent? Who can say

Dobberhockey's player profiles has a "Line Combinations" section that gives all the variations of ES lines that are scraped off the NHLs API. So that chart shows that 10 of his 14 ES points come on a line with Kap and Zucc.

I think Friedman's talk of Rangers looking to shake things up mentioning Krieder and Trouba is mostly a shot across the bow to the team at this point, but what if:

The future considerations in the Wallman trade was Holl. We send Gustafsson back to NYR in exchange for Trouba.

NYR get a out from under Trouba and 6 million to do what they need, along with a player they had success with last year.

DRW gets 2 years (including this season) of:

Ed-Seider
Chiarot - Trouba

While letting ASP season properly. Then Chiarot moves on, Trouba role/contract TBD.

??? - Seider
Ed-ASP
???- Trouba?

I mean it doesn't solve the world hunger problem, but I don't hate it either.

Mostly mindless speculation and connecting the dots on a slow holiday week, but food for thought. Fire away!

Trouba sucks tho. I don't want him. And he is slow af. With all that said I fully expect us to be on board with this.

Ha, but unfortunately an upgrade on what we have.

On a related note I think all of our D and our transition/breakout game would improve drastically if we dropped the man to man shit.
Also I just remembered didn't he say he couldn't leave NY because his wife is in residence just like a few months ago? That changed now?

I believe her residency ends in July and the speculation is the further along the in the season the more likely he would be willing to move.

I have mixed emotions, personally just still trying to analyze the Wallman deal. I suspect if something like I wrote happened we would get a sweetener as well, but not sure what that would be.
