Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XVIII ( if trades occur use specific trade thread)

We could have had PLD

We could have had Duschene

We could have had Tarasenko

Sweener needs to realize that trading for skilled players that needs a change of scenery is the way to go. The team is lacking top 6 talent big time.

Look at how the Celtics built the Championshio team and take notes.

Duchene was never coming here. Tarasenko has underwhelmed in Detroit. PLD is only slightly above his goal pace from last year and has plenty of time left on his contract for things to go south.

I like sure things, not guys who "need a change of scenery" as if a job in Boston will cure their ills.

Bruins trade deadline targets: 7 players who could be hidden gems

Lukas Reichel, Chicago Blackhawks

The left-shot forward could already be a change-of-scenery player at 22 years old. The No. 17 pick in 2020 has six goals and 12 assists in 51 games while averaging 12:10 of ice time per outing. He’s under contract for $1.2 million annually through 2026, then becomes restricted. The price would be high because of Reichel’s age and potential.

Not sure about this guy.
He stands out as a talent but perhaps more like a cut above Walstrom.
You hear is name often in Hawks broadcasts. Little results. Not sure if leaving one crappy team and going to another will help.
Maybe with maturity he'll get there.

Anybody who had a brain in management could have grabbed Hagel like Tampa did.
So obviously talented.
Blossomed now in Tampa. Physical. Fast. Great shot. 30g 38 assists in 60 games right now
Uuuuuugh!

I watched him a lot when he was in Chicago and he was one of the bright spots on that putrid team. Could have been a future Captain with Chicago once Toewes was cooked. I was shocked when the Blackhawks traded him, until I saw the offer they got.....2 1sts and 2 players (Raddysh & Katchouk) for Hagel and 2 4ths.

As much as I liked Hagel, I thought Tampa overpaid at the time and people would have lost their freakin' minds on this board if the B's had made a similar offer. You really gotta tip your hat to Brisebois for that move. That's why he's one of the best in the business.

Totally agree with you.
Celts have way better management vs the B's.
They drafted well getting Tatum/Brown and Pritchard.
We should hire their scouts to draft for us.

Look at the Leafs top 4 forwards ( Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Taveras) compared to our's.
Depressing, lets hope we can swing some nice deals, move up in the draft and get a number one center we desperately need.
I would entertain trading Korpi to whomever wants him and promote DiPietro.
He has been lights out in the AHL and deserves a chance.

How many years did it take to get it right for the C's? seem like they have had multiple high picks for 15 years

Well considering the extra first round pick has about a 75% chance to top out being what Merkulov is today, he was.
I was going to post a snarky reply along the lines of "I still have to chuckle when people think a first round pick is a sure thing." But I couldn't decide if it was funny or just negative.

You could argue Sweeney thought Elias Lindholm just needed a change of scenery to get back to being the player he was in Calgary.

Can you imagine if Don Sweeney had made the Tanner Jeannot deal that Brisebois did? Never mind the perceived overpay on Hagel.
Oh I can imagine it......

All great GMs are gonna miss on a move every once in a while. And to be honest, that's what you want.

It means they're being aggressive in trying to improve their team. I'd rather have a GM make an aggressive move and miss from time to time, than play it safe and wallow in mediocrity. As long as the hits exceed the misses, and you take action to correct the misses when they do happen (Like Tampa did with Jeannot). I'm good.

And they should be. Not sure how they could move Zacha and improve, he's a solid two way player. Probably the best passing forward on the team.

He made some brilliant passes this season
I agree, but except for Cozens potentially being available, you have to wonder if Zacha would be the best available center with term and cap hit this trade deadline.

Jets Interested In Physical Bruins Defenseman

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Winnipeg Jets are interested in Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo.

The 28-year-old has been with the Bruins organization since they drafted him in the second round (37th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He's gone on to play 615 games with the Bruins, scoring 29 goals and 109 points.

This year he's played in 61 of the Bruins' 62 games, scoring a goal and nine points.

The Bruins' season hasn't gone well. Throughout the last few years, they've watched key veterans like Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci retire, and old age is starting to catch up to some others. Without many top prospects, the Bruins must find creative ways of gaining draft capital and bringing in young players. One way to do this is by trading a known defenseman.

The market hasn't been set for Carlo just yet, but other Canadian teams have reportedly shown interest in Carlo. The Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers are looking to bolster their blue line and are hoping to do so by adding the 6'5, 220 lbs American defenseman.

Adding Carlo to the Jets' blue line would provide them with another big defender, capable of clearing the front of their net.

Neither, There are plenty of college UFA's coming out again this year, what do you think the chances are the Bruins will deal someone a first for them?
