Yeah, I think regardless of how well the team does on the ice, if the team is spending near the cap and the cap is going up, it only makes sense for them to raise prices. It's their right. As consumers, it's our right to walk away and not buy overpriced tickets for product that isn't making us happy.

As long as they spend to the cap Im fine with it.

And the cap is going up 8.5%.
That’s exactly what worries me with Sweeney. He hasn’t used the best of judgement in recent years when he had Cap space to spend freely. He’s been more like here’s a car for you and one for you too. Like a drunken sailor who’s out on the town for a weekend.

Crowd on TSN Overdrive talking Leafs at trade deadline about how St. Louis wants two 1st rounders or a 1st + top prospect (Easton Cowen). Brayden Schenn will be 34 this summer, signed for 3 more years at 6.5 million per. He has 12 goals this year.

I don't think they'll get that, but now they are talking Charlie Coyle. One year younger and signed for just one more year.

Would a 2nd rounder out of the Leafs be unreasonable for Coyle?

They give Lohrei a chance, because while he may be trick or treat out there you see that there are clear NHL skills. He is clearly the best PP QB and best offensive defenseman they have, and it's not even close

They've given Merkulov looks, and he has shown nothing other than he can't play Center at this level. Maybe he'll get a longer look, but he looks like a classic 4A player

Lysell hasn't shown any consistency at the AHL level, and honestly his offense is highly overrated on the board, his offensive upside seems like maybe Connor Garland if everything goes well
I don't disagree re: Lohrei. They're handling him how they should be handling him, given the circumstances.

They've given Merkulov 7 total games over two years at the NHL level with limited ice time. I think it's a little early to say he's a 4A JAG; he may be, but I don't think that conclusion can be reached at this moment without a larger NHL sample size.

Re: Lysell, he's had two solid, injury-shortened AHL seasons and a relatively down year this year. One token NHL game and he helped generate a goal in his first shift. By the Bruins own admission, he did nothing to hurt his case during that call up. Arguing that his offensive upside being overblown by a message board and his ceiling being Conor Garland (whom I would take as a comp any day of the week, given the talent on this roster and limited prospect pool) as reasons for not recalling him and giving him a real shot doesn't make sense.

End of the day, Bruins just need to shit or get off the pot with these guys.

That's probably about fair value. But it looks like Toronto dealt their 2025 2nd round (and 1st round) pick. So I don't know what exactly they are giving Boston in these goofy Boston-Toronto rumors on the Interwebz. They seem like highly unlikely trade partners for numerous reasons.

But if it did happen, I want Knies for whatever package would go to the Laffs, non-trivial outflux obviously.

The have Florida's 2nd rounder this year. No 2nd in 2026.

This was speculation by credited media on TSN. Not even an Interwebz rumor, just them tossing names out there. That being said, all speculation has the Leafs chasing a 3rd line center as their main deadline target, hence the rumours of Brayden Schenn, Scott Laughton, Yani Gourde, and Charlie Coyle fits the bill.

Knies is untouchable. They won't trade him.

Disclaimer I’m a BIG Merkulov fan:

People saying Merkulov hasn’t shown much but I watched him closely in his games with Boston and I thought he looked very dangerous and also had a beautiful assist this year. If you go back and watch those games, he looked solid. He was minus 3 in a bad game vs. blue jackets but the entire team was awful that night. It’s easy to forget the games early in the year but he looked crafty, good compete, has a good motor and creative. He has REALLY shown that in his career in providence, I’ve seen him maybe 15 times in Providence and he always jumped out as the most skilled guy out there.

Brown, McLaughlin, Jones, Wahlstrom, Tufte, Viel, Letteri, Tyler Johnson, hell even Beecher all don’t have the skillset of a guy like Merkulov- go back and watch the Merkulov assist, none of those guys make plays like that ever.

Bruins have far too many guys who bring the Patrick Brown skillset and not enough Merkulov. Enough, time to let the guys in Providence who have some skill get a longer look. Merk, Lysell, Fairinacci can’t be worse than this group and they could all use some NHL reps. We have nothing to lose.

Seeing what Merkulov already accomplished in Providence, it’s criminal he hasn’t been given a longer look. Plain stupid.

Meh…..

USA Today's Mike Brehm didn't explicitly say Nelson would be dealt at the trade deadline. If Nelson hits the trade block, though, Brehm predicted he'd be one of the most popular names available.

"USA Olympian Brock Nelson, who topped 30 goals his previous three seasons but is off that pace this season, would be one of the NHL's top trade targets if general manager Lou Lamoriello shops the pending UFA," Brehm wrote.

"Nelson, 33, is in the final season of his contract on a struggling Islanders club. If the Islanders are unable to turn things around and Nelson does not have an extension later in the year, we could see him become available near the deadline. If he is, the Bruins would be wise to make a push for him," DeRosa wrote in November.

If the Bruins have last-second ambitions of extending their eight-year playoff streak to nine, Boston could be a potential landing spot for Nelson according to the Hockey News's Michael DeRosa.

"In a potential move, the Bruins would likely need the Islanders to retain a portion of Nelson's salary and send at least one of their NHL players with other assets to New York."

The Bruins are expected to be cautious at the trade deadline after Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm suffered injuries.
If Bruins trade assets for Brock Nelson I will be livid. No offense to Nelson -- I've always liked him and think he would have been a great add 5 years ago.

But adding a 33 year old center to this squad (and by squad I mean ROSTER) would be a major f*** you to fans who have a clue.

Brock Nelson is such a Bruins move to make, honestly.

St Louis wants what for Schenn?

One good take Razor made on the last bru:

You send good NHLers to the AHL, they can get 10 goals in a few weeks. The guys people are furious about aren't even getting 10 in a season so far. Like when Poitras was ready to come back up, it was obvious. He'd get 2pts a night.

Who down there is beyond obvious that they NEED to be in the NHL right now? Not really anyone.

Lettieri has 44 points. Brown 40. Farinacci 33. Lysell has 29.

Tyler Pitlick is outscoring Lysell with 32 points in 3 less games. He had 1 G and 4 Pts in 34 games in the NHL last year.

I agree I would rather watch Lysell get his shot on the B's. But you're right here, he hasn't exactly forced anybody's hand down there.

Hold firm on one of Leafs top prospects. No need to help them without some hurt from their end. They are feeling pressure to win now.

I think if you draw the line on Cowan or Mintin the Leafs will just take their business elsewhere.
Good, cya later. They don't have a deep run changes are coming & they know it
Call the bluff see who blinks first. Not trading him to Leafs for a 2nd.Division rivals I want more. There are other places u can trade Coyle you know, it dont need to be Toronto..
