Sway having a down year no big deal. Hes still solid.

He CAN be solid. I think the problem with Swayman is his past body of work isn't big enough to be sure of anything yet. When a 32-year-old goalie with 7 or 8 really solid years behind him has a down year, you can reasonably expect that he'll bounce back. The track record is there. But Sway has only played 3 full seasons, all of them before this one as a complimentary 1B or a high 2A, so to speak. He's shown he can play at a very high level for stretches, including playoffs. But it's a different thing to be 'the guy' and look to start in 60 games and against all the top teams, year in year out. That's much harder. That's why many were against giving him a big money long-term deal already, of at least were unsure about it.

Personally I believe he'll sort things out, step up and prove he really is elite. We also simply have to hope he does because there are no easy alternatives. But it's not guaranteed.

Trade Coyle (1 year to UFA) and hopefully Zacha (2 years to UFA) and any of the other UFA including Marchand Wotherspoon Brazeau.

Give up Zacha , because he will be a FA at the end of the 27 season. Makes no sense, he has 2 years left on a great contract

Obviously anyone is available in the right deal, but trading Zacha because he will be a FA in 2 years is insane. You simply couldn't replace him for the price. And what are you going to get? A first round draft pick who might crack the lineup in 2028 if things go really well

Retain for next season:

Pastrnak
Geekie
E. Lindholm
Zacha
McAvoy
H. Lindholm
Zadarov

Retain or see what they bring through trades:

Frederic
Coyle
Kastelic
Poitras
Marchand
Beecher
Koepke
Wahlstrom
Carlo
Peeke
Lohrei
Wotherspoon
Callahan
Oesterle
Swayman
Korpisalo
Honestly when you laid it out like this, it's no wonder this team is not performing well. The retain or see what they bring with the exception of one ore two players is pretty terrible!

You know what? I'm pro player getting paid but I'm anti trade protection, I hope the owners figure out a way in the next CBA to limit the # of NTC and NMC slots per team and/or cap the duration of the clauses to like 4 years max....league would be way more interesting with more trade flexibility ... I look at the Bruins roster and the amount of NMC and NTC sickens me ..pretty much the same for every team...players get the salary going up but should have their stability going down...I know I know...but what about their families and roots in the community? screw that ..they get paid a king's ransom, they can move to another city still living like Kings, I'm not going to cry over that soft hearted BS :)
Which pro player are you?

I hope you’re right. Swayman sorting things out to become the goalie the Bruins paid for would be the best outcome.

Think it's more likely than not.
He missed camp and then jumped into a team with its hair on fire, now he's playing behind a defense relying on Zadorov as the #1 defenseman, Peeke in the top 4 and a Callahan Wortherspoon pairing.

Wait, so you are tough enough to not cry over soft hearted BS like taking away negotiated contracts, and families getting roots in a community, but you're soft enough that you're sickened by trade protections on a handful of Bruins. That's pretty funny.

I'm kind of sickened by the players who have families and roots and lost all interest see Carlo a plug should be journeyman defenseman who somehow hasn't played for another team and has been here a decade or Coyle.

Sinden would have never allowed that nonsense.

Sport sucks they change things up for once and add the 4 Nations and the 3 best USA players end up done for the year. But I guess that means expansion to Houston and Atlanta two failed hockey markets right?

Zacha is a keeper in my view. He's better than Coyle ever was in the defensive zone and actually can skate with the puck and create things.

No one is taking Coyle unless we eat half his salary
If I were a playoff team I'd rather have Coyle. Figure your top 6 is set and if it isn't I'm not sold on Zacha being a sure thing as a solution. Coyle brings that big body veteran experience for the bottom six, a defensive role where he's borderline elite.

Reading the quotes in The 4th Period article make me want Sweeney gone even more.

"We were chasing offense" and "defensively we started giving up some things."

Funny, almost like the roster AS CONSTRUCTED BY YOU DON..... lacks natural offense so the team needs to manufacture it because your 8.25m goalie can't win 1-0 or 2-1 every single night.

What a pompous unimaginable buffoon. Please ship this tool outta town before he botches our retool/rebuild and we have to listen to him blame everyone else for the umpteenth time.
