I honestly don't know if I would trust Sweeney making any trades. Hopefully the Bruins turn it around in the next few weeks, but if the Bruins stay around .500 by the New Year, then I think someone else should make the decisions.

Chabot might be available from Ottawa.....remember when lots had the "we should have taken Chabot" blues? Yuk @ $8M
Where did you hear that? He is playing good hockey so a bit surprised reading what you said.

It does feel like a bandaid move, though. I can see them doing it, but I’d prefer they resist the now mentality and try to work on either a) getting one of their young offensive talents geared up (which means playing them warts and all) or B) pursue someone much younger than Kreider.
I hear ya, but this team lacks scoring. Plus, maybe the guys they trade for Kreider open up spots for Merk or Lysell.

Fan590, Nick Kypreos and his crew spitballing saying they only need one of Sanderson or Chabot. Chabot price tag is too steep for a softie. Don't shoot the messenger but makes sense to me.

The addition of Kreider would likely be a boon for the PP, though he wouldn't fix a roster full of guys that can't pass and refuse to shoot.

It does sound like something Harry would have been all over. Then Kreider would get hooked on bath salts, run over the Bruins' goalie and take a 180 day leave of absence from the team.
This is a great post. My wife asked me what I was laughing at. She then wondered if my meds had gotten the best of me and wondered if it was time to take my phone and tablet away from me.

Would anyone do Carlo in a package for Kreider?
Man, it's tempting.

Kreider is the perfect LW for Pasta. If Bertuzzi worked, Kreider is a bigger, faster, better defensive Bertuzzi but similar game around the net. He's a big volume shooter so he'd help get with that part of our team game. He'd help with the PP. He's scored 24 goals in his last 43 playoff games so he shows up and performs in the post-season. He stays reasonably healthy. And honestly, his contract is a bargain. $6.5m for 40ish goals?

On the other hand, I hate giving up assets for someone over 30, and you always worry about guys falling off a cliff over 33. I'd prefer to go for someone younger... but if the price was right I think I'd take the risk.

Is Carlo the right price? Who replaces Carlo in the top4? We don't have the cap to do a Frederic/Carlo for Kreider/Trouba type deal. Two deals? Carlo for Kreider and Frederic for a RHD? But who? Now I'm just thinking out loud.

I don’t know, but I’d love to have Kreider and Trouba both.

I don't think that's true. The Rangers are bad defensively. They're bottom 3rd in xGA, they have the worst rush defense in the league. Shesterkin is a game changer for them. On top of that, they're about to trade Trouba.

I think they'd love Carlo. I don't really think he's available though.

Their 3 right D are Fox, Trouba and Schneider. They also have Victor Mancini, a 22-year-old right defenseman who's played well in his 10 games this season with the Rangers.

I doubt they are about to trade their captain. But if they did trade Trouba, Bruins still aren't getting Kreider for just Carlo.

Puck pedia has us with 2.3mil in space right now while running a 21 man roster. So to make room for Kreider they'd have to send out like 4.3mil in space, probaby more if they want to maintain some semblance of flexibility.

So that means like Geekie + one of Peeke/Frederic. Or if they really want to shake things up, could be just Coyle. Can't really see the bruins doing any of that tbh.
Why? He is a third line center at 5.5, i can't see the Rangers doing it. Only hope is he might not have the Rangers on his no trade list. Kreider for Coyle is theft for Boston

Carlo's name has come up in recent rumours.

I wonder if your Carlo for forward & Freddy for defense may just be accurate?
