You have it backwards, he should be getting some speed and scoring and mix in some physical guys. They need skill badly

Not saying you are wrong and not saying you are right, but who do you replace them with, these picks will not be ready for 2- 3 years, if ever what do you do for now, kick this down the drain and the next 2-3years also. How would Pasta feel about that, would he want out.

I guess I look at it this way.

What’s happening now isn’t working. The guys that were suggested to be moved in the post I replied to, aside from Swayman are complimentary and/or older.

None, aside from Swayman (at his best) are going to win them a cup.

In truth, the specific players aside, I think moving guys for 2nd round picks or later is not as appealing as moving them for prospects who are further along in their development because they are probably easier to project.

He’s been pretty good as of late.
He has an overall save percentage above 90 and a goals against of 2.70 and in his last 5 games his only loss came in the shootout.

His game has been pretty dam good even playing in front of a pretty pooris defensive team like the Sens.

(I don't care if Korpi wins the vezina, Sweeney still got burned on that deal for value at the time).

With the players not showing the desire or effort to change the course of this season, everything falls on the Jacobs family. Sweeney and Neely are problem #1 and the roster is problem #2. Players could turn it around but not showing it. Sweeney could try to turn it around but too many holes and no cap or assets to fix + I don't trust that he can make the right moves. Which leads to the Jacobs. They need to sell the team if they aren't going to give a shit or fire the two headed monster that created this and go for a full rebuild. If they don't then we are in purgatory for a while. This is a very unlikeable and unwatchable product.

They do lead the league in hits this season. As well as being the most penalized team and tied for 2nd in fights with 12 (Utah is 1st with 14).

Nashville are 2nd last in Pts. % and are 3rd in hits and 4th in fighting majors.

I think Sweeney has been guilty of having a bit too much softness in his D-Corps during his time here. Hence we get a Zadorov signing.

But up front, hitting and fighting haven't been an issue in his tenure despite the narrative here sometimes. He's employed big heavy forwards.

Speed on the forecheck, getting to loose pucks before opposing players do, winning races for dump-ins have all been an issue here. Florida are 2nd in the league in hits this year and I'd wager a lot of it is off the relentless forecheck and the chaotic style they play in the offensive zone. It works for them, but they have the right personnel. Mark Kastelic was a nice add but he's one player.

Boston’s dump ins have been a tire fire of hot ass liquid garbage for years now. There isn’t a team in the league that loves the slow roller behind the net to the opposing teams goalie more than they do.

That or my personal favorite the dump and no chase, go for a line change that somehow springs an odd man rush so often it feels like they’re doing it out of spite.

Poitras probably should be up now but like to see him get till New Years with him: 5 straight games with goals ~ dangerous seemed every time got the puck

No regret with that ullmark deal. Kastelic has been a revelation korpi been quite adequate plus Ottawa is paying portion if his salary with his term of contract. That 1st round pick dean leternaeu is the sweetener who knows what we got there.

I saw Letourneau last Friday in Lowell and he’s a big boy and a very smooth skater - raw but getting grade A training & experience.

Gasseau blew me away how far he’s come in 3 years- I was with @Saxon Eric and I think he would give him thumbs up as well

Letourneau hopefully follows same development upward direction & will interesting to watch in 3 months and certainly next season

Just got done watching Providence with Joe aka Glorydaze and we both impressed with Poitras certainly but Lysell as well

Former Bruins Mini 1on1 Legend Oliver Whalstrom is on waivers. I'd take a gambleI on him. He can't be worse than anything else were rolling out.

By a quick look at his record I'd prefer him. He's a +28 career player.
Not sure if he's a LW or Center since they list his (mediocre) faceoff %.
Whalstrom's (cap$1mill 2024-25) gf/ga/fo/+- numbers aren't as good as Engvalls but I'm not an advanced stats genius like some here are.
Of course there's always a reason that a player is on waivers.

The idea should be to GET A #1 with Kreider and a solid young RD man to replace #73. to a team in turmoil. NYR look like that team to me. So #73 for Kreuder, Schneider and '25 #1.

If we deal McAvoy, I would want more than that package or a deal for another elite young player.

Well if you think McAvoy is still an elite young player (playing at top 10 D level) than I agree but IMO he isn't and he will continue to slip from where he is playing at (17-20D).
I would be surprised if Sweeney trades him now so its a moot point.
