I don't think it makes any sense to trade our core players... you'd be trading them at their lowest value, better off hoping they rebound next year.
All depends on the return. You just dont trade to trade it needs to make sense. No way do I move any of Pasta or McAvoy unless the return is stellar. Marchand I'd move and then bring him back in the off-season.:D

This is the worst Bruins team I've seen since 2005-06. But they don't have a Joe Thornton in his mid-20s on fresh 3-year contract to trade. Elias Lindholm isn't about pull a Zhamnov and get a career-ending injury (and the cap relief that goes with it). They don't have a Bergeron and Krejci in the system.

There is no golden parachute for the current Bruins franchise. Short-term, long-term, it's a mess.

New management, new pro scouts, a new coaching staff. Start there and try to re-tool the group around your current core players (Pasta/McAvoy/Swayman). I'd even trade McAvoy if a comparable D-man in age and pedigree was available.

But they won't do any of that.

Let's be honest, they've never truly gone in that direction. Not in the entire history of this franchise or at least since Orr came along.
Not MTL Smurf, granted.

Even so, over the near decade of Sweeney's management, has any Bruins team come even close intimidating for imposing their will on other clubs?

Not that I can recall.

If Sweeney put a mid season tournament ahead of the Bruins that should move to the top of the list of reasons to fire him
I am all in. But must tell you when they are called on it, be prepared for one massive, illogical, bullshit spin and denial that you would ever expect to hear.

They do lead the league in hits this season. As well as being the most penalized team and tied for 2nd in fights with 12 (Utah is 1st with 14).

Nashville are 2nd last in Pts. % and are 3rd in hits and 4th in fighting majors.

I think Sweeney has been guilty of having a bit too much softness in his D-Corps during his time here. Hence we get a Zadorov signing.

But up front, hitting and fighting haven't been an issue in his tenure despite the narrative here sometimes. He's employed big heavy forwards.

Speed on the forecheck, getting to loose pucks before opposing players do, winning races for dump-ins have all been an issue here. Florida are 2nd in the league in hits this year and I'd wager a lot of it is off the relentless forecheck and the chaotic style they play in the offensive zone. It works for them, but they have the right personnel. Mark Kastelic was a nice add but he's one player.

So Whalstrom is a career .3 point a game player and we should claim him because he has size?!
All while our best prospect is a career .5 point a game player who is currently producing in the AHL. Confused.
Don't mind adding the depth but is adding another bottom six, under producing player what they need? Man it's sad times being a Bruins fan. Fire Sweeney and Fire Neely

Claim Wahlstrom just so we can constantly see the sick goal he scored when he was like 11 or whatever in between periods
What is the under and over on how many times it will be shown in the first week, if he was to come here.

Sorry found my answer on Whalstrom. They will sign if they can, he has a bit of size, ties to the area and was a first rounder so he must be a Bruin 🥱

Their 12th forward on any given night has been a revolving door and they've used by my count 18 or 19 forwards so far this year. The put Johnson in last night and he posted a minus 4.

I see no reason not to give this a try. Is it any better or worse than some of the other players they've tried up front this year?

You're just all remembering Wahlstrom's showboat goal in Mini one-on-one 15 years ago and expecting that he's a better player than he is

Take a shot on Wahlstrom
If you want to ga that route, ok fine, but lets take a shot with Alex Nylander, Walstrom and Nylander combined, 1.75 million, no more Tyler Johnsons please. If they can do anything it will be a positive, both young, skilled, speed, and were high draft picks. Doesn't workout what have you loss, not money, and no assets lost. Now mind you that is not all I want done, but when you cap strapped, you have to think outside the box. One side note, Nylander played well in a short time with Columbus, and I know no one will disagree with me, but if this kid was to catch fire, and then rub in Toronto's faces. I am vindictive, and a lot of you are also...............don't lie to me :laugh:

I said that as a joke in my post. I also said hes a 24-year-old that may just need a change of scenery.

I think we can all agree hes probably not living up to his draft pedigree at this point but given the Bruins current situation (cap space and lack of scoring), I think they can afford to take a shot with him.

Worst case they waive him too lol.

We gotta put a claim in on Wahlstrom. I still remember his iconic mini 1-on-1 goal. That's the kind of scoring this team needs!

In all seriousness I do think getting an offensive minded winger in the lineup could help. Playing in the Islanders system can definitely be tough on someone that's not a natural grinding defensive player, so maybe playing for a new team invigorates his game. Nothing to lose by claiming him.

We’re light on ways to block Lysell so probably should add another.

Indeed, we are all expecting to get a stud off of (checks notes) the waiver wire where guys are before they are sent down to the minor league.

I'd have no issue giving Lysell a look but doesn't seem like that is in the cards right now. You can't deny the numbers in Providence this year are exactly popping off the page.

That being said, I think the chances of Sweeney claiming Wahlstrom are slim and none. Strikes me as a guy who he could of already acquired if he wanted to.

Pretty sure Cam has decided that despite leading the league in hits and penalty minutes this season, and being 2nd in fights, the solution to the Bruins woes is more hits, PIMs and fights.

Wahlstrom's career PPG isn't that far off Trent Frederic, who has been given more chances here than any Bruin in history for my money.

Yup, they've done the tyler Johnson experiment. He should be sent off into the sunset. He is 34, and clearly burnt toast

If they believe that Whalstrom still has some potential then give him a shot give him 10 games to see if he shows something. If not they you shoot him into the sun, and go with Lysell or whomever is next.

Even if he isn't a long term solution, sometimes guys just come in and fit for a little bit. Look at Anthony Richard who somehow put up 6 points in 7 games this year

Carlo's value should be the same since he never has point production. They have a defensive dmen surplus and I don't think Zadorov/Peeke are tradable.

You’re really going off the rails with this Frederic thing man. Never seen you like this.

But why would anyone give you a Pasta level player for a current Pasta who's underperforming?

Well it's true though. In all honesty I did compared Wahlstrom's PPG to other Bruins but Frederic's was the closest in comparison (0.338 to Wahlstrom's 0.323). Geekie was 0.394.

I'm just so sick and tired of Trent Frederic. I've never liked him, but this season he's finally stepped on my last nerve. Free Pass Freddy. Whether it's management, the coaches, or the fans, he continues to get a free pass, never held accountable. Team leading minus 13, a minus 3 last night in a game where he was a complete puck watcher. Needless penalties and they still keeping rolling him out there, shift after shift. Let's bench Pasta for a late 2nd period turnover but Frederic takes a brutal penalty in a close game at the end of the 2nd period against St. Louis and they actually rewarded him with ice in OT. Free passes and double standards seems to be the Bruins way now.

Should be in the press box on Saturday after his last two games just to send a message to him he needs to be better and smarter.

What can we get for this guys?

Coyle = 2025 2rd pick?
Carlo = 2025 2 rd pick?
Geekie = 2025 4th rd pick?
Swayman = 2025 1st + 2025 2rd + prospect? ( Habs were interested it seems: cal 2025 1st + habs 2025 2rd + Jacob Fowler)

Rather have prospects that are 19, 20 or 21 than picks to be honest.

I figure we’re probably better off taking guys other teams have picked,with some sort of track record than handing picks to this group.
