When we're playing well we create turnovers in the neutral zone, and have a quick attack.

If we're not getting the puck deep, thats our gameplan up in smoke.. We're being suffocated in our zone/neutral zone.. We literally cant get the puck out of our zone or through the neutral zone with space/time/possession.

I missed most of the 1st but I see the Rangers were outshot 17-7.

The score could very easily be 3-0 and nobody would be blaming Kinkaid at all. Not that he's been great; Pittsburgh just missed on a bunch of quality chances.

edit - what am I saying. Of course people would blame Kinkaid lol

Note: they are *also* getting outplayed, badly.

But you're gonna get outplayed when you go through motions and frankly don't seem to get mad at getting dummied.
What do you expect them to do? They can't play faster than now. It's simply lack of ability as a team. The other options are you try hitting them and making them pay some kind of price or you start dropping back and play more conservatively

Zib and Kreider are the furthest thing from captain material.

Smiling and working out. Sure, I'll give you the good guy, off-ice hard working asistant Kreider. Zib, looks sad since day one of the season. Not even close to the guy who should take this team over. Or has the emotional range to get anyone going.

This team needs guys to stand and speak in the room. Set the tone, get a rise out of the young guys. I bet you could hear a pin drop in that locker-room right now.

It's been a real struggle. Transition game needs serious improvement. Didn't help that our fastest center had a crummy period.

I am behind in game because I took time to do this. Just goes to show, that Mika simply is feeling forced in his decisions (self imposed) and not allowing things to come naturally. Pass when u should shoot, and vice versa.
He could have saucered it. Or, is it sauced? Lol.

Maybe he was trying for pass off pads? Sauce pass would be tough there. Based on that still, a
pass through the Triangle of Letang would be the best decision.

He does it all the time though. Like Kovalev said, he's not going to produce staying on the perimeter and firing weak wrist shots. He's gotta either get himself inside or the puck. In that scenario the passing lane was wide open to Miller and it seems like Kakko just doesn't see it there.
He would if he could. Pitt is playing a strong and structured game

We were beating Devils and Buffalo with Kreider putting the team on his back.. We wont win unless he goes beast mode or someone else shows up.. Our PP has been failing us as well.

They're sending 2 deep on the forecheck and continuously being beaten because Pitt is faster, that's simply what's happening. Send 1 deep and have the second forechecker stay higher and angle them out to the outside or to the boards. That will slow them and their transition down through the neutral zone

Sending one in will only result in them breaking out faster unless you dump and chase.
The way things are now, the only way that's going to work is if you can get in on that opposing D quick enough.
Kreider is the only one on the team that can make that work with this team.

Again, getting outplayed is getting outplayed. It's not because we lack effort or are lazy. They're simply not fast or strong enough, at least against these Pens it seems.
It still annoys me how the Penguins ripped us off after 2013-15. But also validated my high opinions of those two NYR teams.

I'm absolutely in the camp they need a strong sustained forecheck to stifle Pens.

Pens aren't the Bruins, their D corps can be exposed.

But my guess is that Quinn will try to continue exchanging punches and fail.

I'm just furious when the Pens are CLEARLY clogging the neutral zone: Rangers continue forcing the play on the rush..

Exactly. And they're not fast enough to get there time to put pressure that causes mistakes

Idk about if they will keep it up this period but they moved the puck at lightning speed and tape to tape in full stride. Hard to do anything when that happens.
