Big Boss: Because he sucked McChicken when he was a Jacket. I mean, we bought him out. That is how bad he was as a Jacket. He is one of former Jackets I truly despise.

Wennberg had one year after his bad concussion where he sucked. Other than that he was either fine or he was actually really good.

I've never had a great viewing of Belchetz. It feels like people talk about him the way they talk about Hemming, but Belchetz doesn't use his frame much, he's a bit soft. And all this talk about his soft hands but I see him fumbling pucks and making bad passes often. Very different player for me, and I'm continually surprised to see him ranked ahead of Hemming.

It seems like he'll be more of a defensive specialist and that feels un-exciting at #14. But I could be talked into him, he's going to be solid.
I'm not fully in love with anyone yet so far so I would be happy with the pick. I think at 14 you have to walk that fine line of " what are their chances to hit the top end potential vs what are their likelihood of becoming a bonafide NHLer.

I think I'm more likely to take a chance at the top compared to the middle or back half of the first round. But that is also very dependent on the class itself. I'll probably get more serious after the season is over and the draft is around the corner.

I think I'm one of the few people who's on record saying that the buyout was a dumb idea and not needed to begin with. After we got rid of him we basically had Wennberg sized hole in the middle 6.

IIRC he was the one who has a motor issue, the skill and potential are high-end but could be a player that needs some prodding or needs to find that drive. I could be misremembering though.

I dont think it’s bad motor issue. I think he’s in the same club as a Dagenais (in the first half especially) where hes not as good as he could be but it’s not like it’s real bad. Just not the top end you’d like to see. Think he was on pace for like 40 goals before his injury too.

Roobreck is the big one who’s got a really low motor / compete to me.

Alexander Wennberg's point totals for his last 3 years with the Jackets were 22, 25 and 35. That is McChicken.

There are also people on record saying he performed a role we needed but it didnt fit the contract. I want to say some of them are talking from the other side now but I could be misremembering and dont care enough to go back and look

Teams took notice of Gustafsson’s hot U-18s, and it’s hard to believe he’ll fall out the top 15 on draft day now. Gustafsson is a 6-foot-4 defender who played well in the SHL, despite having little to show for it on the scoresheet. His skating is good for his size, allowing him to play a very mobile game. Gustafsson rarely struggles to get the puck out of his zone. A lack of flash and high-end offensive instinct likely won’t help his stock to the average fan, but you still need guys who can kill plays, and that’s exactly what he does – quite effectively, I might add.
