A bit worried about Czech Republic - Germany. The game against the US cost the team a lot of strength and they have to play again less than 24 hours later, while the Germans have not played yet. Let's see what happens.

German forward group is one of the deepest they have came to a tournament with...

But Czechs should be able to score 4-5 on the D and goalies unless Germany pair and play Kose-Handel for 40 minutes. (Ofc a goalie can always stand on head though)

I think I'd generally agree with this, but I do wonder what impact the game against the US will have against the rested Germans.

Hoping for a rested benak. But losing today wouldn't even make me flinch. Itnisnthe Czech way.

what's the word on Vit Zahejsky? I never heard of him before but I thought he was their best player yesterday. I saw his #'s in the WHL weren't too impressive but he was all over the place yesterday.

He was amazing in Czech leagues and hlinka. Looked like a top 100 pick. Went to chl and was awful.lol. Came back and looks amazing.

I've only seen him play for czechs and he is great. Then I look on EP and he sucks.

It's a little different than normal, but it's a little misleading for them to claim that and it also isn't anywhere near what it should be.

First of all, two of those five are former NTDP players that went to college early, so they're basically just returning to their NTDP age group to play Worlds.

They've gotten a little better at giving opportunities for this tournament to non NTDP players. Last year we saw Connelly from a USHL team play for this team. This year two USHL players (Ben Kevan and Matthew Lansing) are playing and one WHL player (Blake Fiddler). That's better. That's the way it should be.

It's nowhere near what it should be. They cut the best player in the age group, who plays in the OHL, for reasons or something, and kept a bunch of NTDP bums who won't be drafted. Kevan was the 13th forward yesterday and is like the 3rd or 4th best forward on the team, so yeah it's still difficult if you're a non NTDP player.

Still hoping? Portland's in the West conf. finals, so no chance.
Can see why you'd be hoping though, I've been impressed with both at various times so far in the playoffs.

I thought Czechs did well the first two periods, and then turtled too much. It was an even game when Czechs were pushing to score that next goal, so they can definitely play with USA. Then they went into prevent defense mode, and that's always a terrible strategy. They gotta change that for the rest of the tournament when they get a lead.
