Dickinson and Molendyk running the point on the PP would still be much better options than Bonk.
You don't know that that roster would be better.Hate to be right.
They could but they just rostered Mynio along with Parekh liking the Canada lose on insta Hockey Canada probably isn't about to parachute him in to save the day.Since Schaefer is out, do they have an opportunity to add Zayne Parekh to the roster? I think rosters only go final once a player has played or it reaches the knockout round.
True, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that basically any other roster they could have brought, including the U18 one, wouldn't have lost to Latvia. LmaoYou don't know that that roster would be better.
The roster selection was odd, for sure. I think you can grab 3 guys from your lineup and make a top 6 line (and dump the 4th line).True, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that basically any other roster they could have brought, including the U18 one, wouldn't have lost to Latvia. Lmao
Yakemchuk and Misa liked it too. They could but they just rostered Mynio along with Parekh liking the Canada lose on insta Hockey Canada probably isn't about to parachute him in to save the day.
I mean to be fair we have a better player then Parekh currently on the roster in Dickinson that they just aren't really utilizing at all. So if the plan all along was for Bonk to for whatever reason QB the PP....then I get how they get to the head space that Parekh is redundant lol they need to use Dickinson. Nobody was going to parachute in and save this team.lol Anholt, Salmond, Murray, Seabrook, and Cameron unable to swallow their pride. I have been far from Zayne Parekh’s biggest fan, but it’s evident at this point he’s the closest offensive producer from the blue line that is available to Canada to Schaefer. And in the need for a true PP1 QB and his inclusion makes even more sense.
I hope the guys on the ice do well, but going back to the beginning of December this management group is infuriating how incompetent they are. I know TSN and RDS are more hesistate to criticize hockey Canada, but fair play to Scott Wheeler for saying what we’re all thinking
I have no real problem with how Pinelli has played, nor do I want him taken out. Where I have a problem is that he was immediately put on the second line in that second warm up game and didn't have to earn anything after he was the 14th forward. Clearly Cameron likes him for obvious reasons, but when rules and standards apply differently to different players based on who they are or if they are your player at junior then to me Cameron has lost the plot of coaching at this level.
Why is Bonk continuously used on the top PP unit? He seems to fire into opposition skates at least twice per PP.
I find a lot of Cameron's coaching decisions are strange. I've never been a fan of his. This is what the entire country is wondering.

Broken collarbone.
Yeah I would agree with that. My main point was that Cameron had what 3? defensemen on the actual roster better at that role then Bonk is. Any of Schaefer, Molendyk or Dickinson would make more sense....and he still went with Bonk. So would he have even given the spot to Parekh if he made the team?As a Knights fan, Parekh is a much better PPQB than Dickinson. The Knights just outcoach most teams and have the talent to overwhelm anybody on the powerplay.
As it stands, I would probably want Molyndyk running the powerplay because I value skating a lot from the PPQB.
That is quite possible but the coaching staff isn't really handcuffed. First off it doesn't really matter if they piss off the current Carolina regime, and second you can still give him good minutes and some PP time even with a shake up. But the forwards clearly do need a shake up. The team should be rolling a top nine at this point with Luchanko's line out there to give the others a rest.I suspect with Nadeau, it’s one of those situations whereby Carolina/Chicago agreed to release him under the condition he plays top-6 minutes. Nadeau is a very good player but I find the coach is handcuffed in those situation
I also think that the bubble might burst with a guy like Catton going off against a weaker team then the confidence rolls over to the elimination round.McKenna and Ritchie are the two guys who could carry this team together with a guy like Dickinson probably being able to make the most impact on D now that Schaefer may be done.
I like how they pick Dave Cameron considering he doesn't really seem like much of a winner as a head coach looking at his history. Also as a Flames fan I've seen how he ran the powerplay with the notorious Brouwerplay and in general just bad coaching at the NHL level imo. This is still apparent with Bonk and Howe on the PP.... Dickinson runs Londons PP not Bonk and is putting up staggering numbers.
The roster could definitely be better, but I think suboptimal coaching really bites Canada in the back, this year and last. This roster is definitely better than last years and George/Ivankovic is better than Rousseau and co last year.
My main concern is that Dave Cameron won't adapt the play of Canada and stick to his "system". This isn't the NHL playoffs, the WJC are normally very high scoring, especially in the early games. Canada has the talent to score but the coach needs to figure out how to get the offence going, this still isn't a roster that should struggle to score even if there were better scoring players that they mistakenly cut...
We need Cowen to bring moar
