GDT: 2025 Playoffs - Stanley Cup Finals

I’m in Richmond, VA. Kinda loving this city. Anyone from HF here or close?

(And yes I’m aware this is the playoff thread. I just needed some attention, apparently)

I'll give you that attention...

My mother's side of the family is from Virginia and I've been to Richmond many times. Flown to and from that airport quite a bit.

I've been visiting the greater historical triangle and hour or so down the way my whole life. Prolly spent more Christmas and summer vacations there than anywhere else on the planet. Heck, spent a summer in college working at Busch Gardens.

Good times...

I've seen Richmond's ECHL team (no longer there, of course) a half dozen times over the years. Even thought of it as a possible destination while playing in college before the injuries set in.

I've seen the outfits in Norfolk more though, both AHL and ECHL. Even saw a two-game outing of the Soundtigers many, many years ago when the Admirals were the TBL affiliate and got to talk with Cizikas, de Haan, Poulin, Reese, Donovan, and Wishart. Also got to talk with Janus, Barberio, Gudas, Ashton, Conacher, and Panik.

My mom has worked a number of years in Richmond and always liked it.

Big area for Civil War buffs too.

I wouldn’t sign him for league minimum

Florida doing us a tremendous service the past three postseasons, eliminating

Toronto x2
Carolina x2
Tampa x2
Rangers x1
Edmonton x1
I was hating FLA too; but after being reminded of this, I have developed an instant affinity for them.

Yes -- a lot of history there -- kind of a smaller, nice version of Chicago -- was there for a volleyball tourney with Bones Jr -- but Ill have to go back when my schedule isnt wrapped around something else. Not sure if it could support any type of professional team, but I found it very welcoming.

Sometimes I forget RNH was a #1 overall. Not a superstar by any means like you’d want from #1, but great player for Oilers.

Just gets me pumped for our #1 coming up

Carolina making this a series all of a sudden. Panthers seem to be playing with less snarl than earlier. Wonder if the Panthers brand is catching up to them.

Maybe I spoke too soon!

Leon seems as potent from his spot as <gulp, dare I say> nearly as much as Ovi is from his.

Not sure how he does it -- I dont see him with a protracter out at all. Incredible.
I was yelling at the TV when they left him wide open in that spot. Don’t they watch any replays. That’s his office. His accuracy on the short side is amazing from right there.

I'm wondering if Brind'Amour's seat is getting a little warm.
Carolina seems to have a bit of a head in the sand defiant double-triple down on their type of players and how they play. It’s generating regular season success, but their top players don’t have those extra ‘skills’ to help the team take the next step - that’s on management.
