How ironic would it be if the Ducks won the lottery and it was a year with a LHD at the top lol.

Our 2024 draft kinda took the sting out of having RD as a priority. With the need for more RD's in our system after trading Drysdale away, we drafted all LD's last year.

Rd 1. LD Solberg
Rd 3. LD Tarin Smith
Rd 7. LD Uljanskis

Tack on that Zell is being played as a RD, Luneau developing in the AHL, Helleson's surprise play at the NHL, and acquiring Trouba, then the sting of drafting a LHD at the top of the lottery doesn't sound so bad if that LHD is the best player in the draft.

Im more excited about the top 4-5 of this draft than the last couple for sure. I think Martone and McQueen are the guys Verbeek will be most interested in.

Oh I'd guarantee he's a Martone fan for sure, that kid is right up his alley. Beyond him, and Schaefer, there's obviously going to be great players and some stars from this draft, but I see the point about the overall quality. There's still time for those late risers to join the party and make the top look deeper.

Personally I wouldn’t take McQueen higher than 5 or 6 based on his injury status and his late 06 birthday/mediocre junior production. He is a boom/bust type of pick.

Yeah atleast it was an upper body injury, I dont believe his back... he should be back soon so we'll get a better idea soon. I really liked what I saw from him before his injury and even considered him as possibly the best prospect in the draft, at least as far as transferable skills.

McQueen has a spinal injury just like Lindstrom has. He wont be back for a bit and will have this problem his entire life. No thanks

And with how things have gone with Carlsson and Zegras taking turns on the IR list, they don't need Lindstrom 2.0. With this teams luck things wouldn't go well with McQueen in Anaheim.

Wang looks like he moves better than fellow 6'6 2025 eligible D Mrtka, but no doubt he's more raw overall

I saw the end of this game. He got taken down and then a scrum started at the end. He just stood there and watched. Not saying anything good or bad just seemed funny this kid is standing there towering over everyone while they all fight around him.

Martone will be the target if we’re picking in the top 3
I hope so. I doubt they will win the lottery so Schaeffer ain't happening.
Wouldn't mind Misa either, he's like 6'1 and scores goals. Could end up at 6'2 maybe ?
To me there is a clear top 4 (no particular order):
Schaeffer
Martone
Hagens
Misa

Then probably Frondell and McQueen (health permitting).

And then all the rest.
Verbeek probably made the Ducks scouts cross off Hagens from their lists when he saw his height.

Misa is also strong in the faceoff dot and fairly well rounded, has a bit of a chip to him. He's a legitimate top five pick type prospect, can become a darn good two way center.

He's green compared to his peers in a lot of ways, very atypical path to this point. But the tools are freakish, the jump up to the OHL will be a good test for him.

Misa fits perfectly too. If McTavish and Zegras can't stick at Center then Misa can be that 2C behind 1C Carlsson. I also wonder if they try out Gauthier at C at some point. He has a pal in Kesler who can teach him faceoffs in the offseason.

At this point, I don’t wish for any of these top players to be drafted by the Ducks just so PV and co can turn these highly skilled prospects into grinders. Ducks development program is currently destroying young players and I don’t wish that on these kids.

He's 2026 eligible, but look how damn huge the OHL's most recent first overall pick Ethan Belchetz is at age sixteen. 6'5 and nearly 230 lbs already

18P in 25 games isn't too shabby for his first taste of the OHL. Him and Roobroeck make for quite a pair of talented powerforwards coming out of the OHL next year Ethan Belchetz - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Speaking of Roobroeck, he just set a new Niagara Ice Dogs franchise record by scoring a natural hat trick in just 5:12 combined.

It will be a Christmas miracle if we can have a new coach by then..
