i wonder if we try to move up a bit from 60….Mason West likely goes too early, as does Horcoff, Psenicka could be cool, Drott I like, Gard too. There should be some talent remaining in the late second and third.
It might be a smart move. We're going to have too many prospects fighting for time with San Diego soon. Having one higher quality guy over two or three lower ones will help with that. Then go for quantity in a few years as guys either graduate or move on.i wonder if we try to move up a bit from 60….
We have 2 3rds and 2 5ths.
Target islanders at 42 as they might want more quantity in this draft.
Gives us more of a say on who will be there at 42
Not sure if he's a legit option for us at 10 or if he'll go a bit later, but happy to hear this news for his sake regardless.
Bear would be a good consolation prize if Martin is gone at the Ducks pick. That said, there are likely to be a couple of other players available with higher ceilings than Bear. Just depends on what the Ducks are looking for. Two things bother me about Bear though (1) he doesn't have any standout offensive skills and (2) he had a much better 1st half of the year than 2nd half. Scouts normally would prefer to see the opposite trend.
Yes, if all the teams drafting 2-9 take forwards then Bear (if not taken in the top 9) will be one of the top 3-4 options remaining. I honestly have no idea where to rank him. I wouldn't have put him in the top 15 a week ago but now that his injury seems much less severe I think he probably goes top 15.I agree with the point about ceiling, I just think you would have to pass on guys with more upside. I like what Bear brings to the table and could see him fitting in with our group, but you don't want to pass on a potential impact D or star forward for a gritty middle six winger. Or at least have to figure out how to balance upside vs likable floor.

I really rate Gard and think his points this season are very deceiving. He projects to stick at C, skates well for his size, has solid playmaking/decision making, very good net front presence and I think he has some nice hands - would be interesting to see how much his skills can develop. 60 would be a good spot to take him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was gone already. Similar to a RD who I really really like, Quinn Beauchesne, who will probably be gone by pick 60.Mason West likely goes too early, as does Horcoff, Psenicka could be cool, Drott I like, Gard too.
