Im mostly getting hyped about everything prospect related at this time, and with two 1st's this year (and early 2nd), a 1st and two 2nd's next year, and then two 1sts in 2025 (Calgary's)

Wondering if anyone knows anything about this way too early to talk about draft class. Calgary could very well end up being a bottom team if they dont work their UFA's out properly

Some of the top potential prospects early on:
USA

OHL

WHL

QMJHL

Misa and Hagens are ahead right now I think.

The Habs currently only have one 2nd round pick for the 2024 draft and that 2nd is the Avs pick from the Lehkonen trade. The Habs traded their 2024 2nd round pick to the Coyotes as part of the Dvorak trade.

You are correct was looking at an un-updated website. Either way, wasnt one of the picks I was the most excited about of all

I think the conditions on the Calgary pick are such that, if Florida doesn't have their 1st in 2025 and Calgary finishes bottom 10, then we get Calgary's 2026 1st.

Are we able to get Florida's 2025 pic? Because if we don't and they're picking 20 something, we have to take their 1st if Calagary finishes bottom 10.

...the freakin' stipulations on that pick are soo damn confusing that we should jsut trade the damn thing now before someone in management gets an ulcer from thinking about it...

Is that what it is? How did FLA even come into that trade? The thing was confusing to me, and I honestly didnt bother updating myself with the details before making this thread, was really just trying to find info on top guys for 2 years from now seeing as we should have a top pick in the next 2 drafts aswell

He's good, he was already carrying Saginaw's offense quite a bit as a young 16 years old. He plays with a bit of an edge too and he's pretty lanky, I could see him end up in the 6ft1 range when he's done growing. Lots of potential.

I think 6'1" is the perfect height where a player can still be explosive and shifty while maintaining a strong center of gravity as well as having adequate wingspan and reach to corral and protect the puck.

He's not the lots of penalty taking type, but he fights for pucks and he'll go to the net when there's an opportunity. He would have the right type of size for that.

Would expect us to add some more picks next TDL too. Eddy, Savard and maybe Monahan if he’s brought back which I think he will be.

*cough* Dvorsky *cough*

That Calgary pick condition list still blows my mind.

By my interpretation, it's potentially only top-1 protected in 2025, and not protected if it goes to 2026?

Misa and Spence tore it up with the Sens in the GTHL, nice to see them have strong rookie seasons in the OHL.

I saw a lot of Misa when he was in the GTHL and he always looked like a special player. I am not sure that he will reach 6'1" but he looks like a can't miss prospect.

Even ChatGPT is confused on how that trade works

I'm only basing it on his frame/body type, he has long legs and arms, he looks like he can still grow quite a bit. I could turn out totally wrong. He's listed at 5ft11 right now though, so he's not that far off.

I have to say I'm still salty that the year the Habs got a 1st overall was one of the worst years to have it in a decade.
2024 looks a bit better (not fantastic) but 2025 has Misa/D'Aigle and 2026 has McKenna.
2023 would have been amazing but for asinine reason our management things winning an extra five regular season games was mor eimportant than drafting a generational player...

Habs will have bottomed out at just the wrong time.
It's so depressing.

Ok I won't derail the thread. But basically the ouck can either be 11 and afterwards in 2025, depending on what happens with Calgary and Florida, or anywhere after 1 in 2026.

Florida comes into it because they traded their 1st to Calgary and so we may get the Florida pick from Calgary.

I have a very early 2025 top 32 rankings done. Four Quebecois in Desnoyers, Morin, D'Aigle and Zonnon. There is also the son of former goaltender Manon Rhéaume on the list.

2025 looks average thus far.
