If the Isles take Schaefer 1st overall but still want Misa or Hagens, would you trade 2nd overall for Dobson straight up?
No lol

Misa-Celebrini-Chernyshov
My thinking is… Smith/Misa, we need a 2C. Best one gets it. Loser is on Mack’s wing.Or run
Celebrini
Misa (With Cherny tied to his wing)
Smith?
Down the middle for years to come. Seems like Misa wants to play center, and it's possible the Sharks aren't giving up on Smith at C.
Even putting Smith aside, Celebrini and Misa as your 1C and 2C could be incredible.
Chernyshov-Misa-Smith could feed families as a 2nd line.My thinking is… Smith/Misa, we need a 2C. Best one gets it. Loser is on Mack’s wing.
If injuries come knocking… be ready to play 2C
Seems like a lot of Isles fans are okay with taking Misa at 1 or trading down to 2 to take Misa. Maybe a trade is possible if GM is as receptive.
Hagens was considered a way better prospect than Martone coming into the year. Some even said better than Macklin! We should totally just draft off old rankings instead of using the new data we have?Fans are going to freak out if Grier takes Martone over Misa but I think Martone fits Grier's vision of our build better than Misa does.
Martone was considered a better prospect than Misa coming into the year and has been selected over Misa by Team Canada at the World Juniors and now at Mens Worlds. He's bigger, is a right hand shot and a more natural winger to complement Celebrini and Smith down the middle.
It would feed all the starving kids in the worldChernyshov-Misa-Smith could feed families as a 2nd line.
The newest data being that Martone was invited to play for Team Canada with a bunch of elite NHLers, Misa was dogshit in the playoffs and people are openly speculating Misa won't be the first forward picked.Hagens was considered a way better prospect than Martone coming into the year. Misa was hurt in the playoffs to the extent that he missed the last game, in case you didn't know that. The newest data being that Martone was invited to play for Team Canada with a bunch of elite NHLers, Misa was dogshit in the playoffs and people are openly speculating Misa won't be the first forward picked.
If we can't get Schaefer I'm fine with any of Misa, Martone, Frondell or even Desnoyers if that's who our scouting staff thinks is the best player.I would probably take Misa if I had the choice to make, myself, but then I'm not a huge believer in Will Smith as a center. If Grier likes Smith at center as much as he says he does, Martone should be a strong consideration. He and Misa are in the same tier of talent.

I'm just worried Misa might be more of what we already have in the top six but maybe I'm underrating his defensive and physical game.

I meant more like Eklund and Smith, undersized skill, but Celebrini isn't the biggest forward in the league either. You need size and physicality along with skill in order to win in the playoffs. If you mean that he's a lot like Celebrini, what on earth is the problem with that? There is a long history of good NHL teams built around a pair of strong, play-driving centers.
If the plan is to draft Misa to use him on the wing then trade Eklund for a defenseman and add size around your three star forwards then that could make sense.I think you're definitely underrated his physical attributes and his ability to be a goal scoring phenom. He's a borderline elite skater and an elite shooter of the puck and has that stocky build that allows him to win in a plethora of ways around the net, and he's a bull in the corners.
I think he's a future 1LW in the NHL and a player that could equally compliment Macklin or Smith or drive his own line.
Statistically speaking, it wasn't bad luck though. It could be worse, we could be Anaheim. Really can't be terribly mad at this result. The bad luck od this franchise never ceases to astound me. My head might just explode
