To be fair… they don’t really have a high level center man in their pool…. They could totally take Misa.

I think the organization has like 1 decent D prospect in their pool and now they can convince Dobson to stick around and be a good mentor.

If the Isles are leaning Hagens I would happily give up the Dallas pick to swap with them. I wonder if that isn't sort of insulting to the kid you're drafting to trade down from 1st overall for him though.

Isn't this the best outcome? We get Chernyshov-Misa or Schaefer if the Isles want some offense. The top prospect doesn't go to another rebuilding powerhouse. AND we keep our shot at getting 1st overall next year (even though we'd hope we get better, I don't expect the playoffs just yet.)

The best outcome is picking 1st where we don't have to be at the mercy of any other teams' decisions. But this is fine. The Isles aren't a direct competitor, not a team that I think any of us will particularly hate, and honestly the Sharks are in a position where as much as Schaefer would've been the obviously preferable option, this still means that Grier should get a great player unless he does something dumb like really hone in on Frondell or whatever.

I would be. Id consider Martone more if we didnt have Cherny. I think Grier could see Misa-Cheryn as an elite 2nd line.

HUGE result, I still think it's 50/50 that we can get Schaefer

If not Misa is a core piece + future star forward that brings a dynamic goal scoring element that we don't have yet

The live draw was one of the most anxiety inducing things I've experienced in my life btw, what an awful 30 minutes

The Islanders don't have any key forward prospects in their pool so our chances for Schaefer are not bad...

This is about as good as it can get without actually winning the #1 pick.. And it screws the other teams in the west!
