i thought this even before the lottery, i think jumpint 10 spots is too generous

i honestly think 1OA pick should go to a bottom-5 team... so i feel they should cap the jump at like 4 spots

Yea it really is absurd the only option is jumping 10

I'd like to see each pick drawn but the next 5 worse teams in play for the pick. Weighted towards the worst teams.

yeah 4 months biologically, 1 full development year ahead.

Although Misa did actually get to play 3 full years in the OHL as well, and scored at a 1.5ppg clip over his 3 years compared to a 1.15ppg clip, despite playing his first year when he should have still been in U17
This is just objectively false. Both the US and Canada use birth year the separate players in youth hockey. So when talking years of development two players of the same birth year have the same years of development.

So even though the NHL has a September cutoff for I’m guessing legal reasons to not have minors at training camp Celebrini and Martone have had the exact same number of years of hockey development.

I meant more like Eklund and Smith, undersized skill, but Celebrini isn't the biggest forward in the league either. You need size and physicality along with skill in order to win in the playoffs.

Misa is a lot like Celebrini in that he's average-sized, but strong, fast, and tenacious.

Players who can reliably drive play through the neutral zone are the most valuable assets in the sport, and we still need at least one more. Misa and Shaefer are both blue-chip play drivers. We should take whichever is available at 2nd overall and not overthink things.

Martone would have been a lovely consolation prize at #3, but if you can lock up an almost sure-thing play driver like Misa, I think you have to do it.

I think you're definitely underrated his physical attributes and his ability to be a goal scoring phenom. He's a borderline elite skater and an elite shooter of the puck and has that stocky build that allows him to win in a plethora of ways around the net, and he's a bull in the corners.

I think he's a future 1LW in the NHL and a player that could equally compliment Macklin or Smith or drive his own line.

He's a perfect linemate for Smith. Their strengths and weaknesses are nearly polar opposites.

Will has top class vision, an elite shot, and has exceptional hockey IQ, in the offensive zone. Will doesn't go into the hard areas, is pretty slow, and is currently rather poor defensively and in board battles.

Michael is an elite goal scorer, but lacks high-end hockey IQ or vision. In the offensive zone he has a tendency to be single-minded in using his speed, grit, and elusiveness to get into the hard areas where an elite playmaker/offensive mind (Parekh) will find him to score. Misa lives in the hard areas, has excellent speed, and is above average defensively, and strong in board battles.

I love Misa. I do much prefer Schaefer (due to positional need, and marginal advantage as a standalone prospect) and would happily give up Misa, and two other prospects I like say Fiddler (26th) and a 2nd ( Zonnon?) to comfortably believe I had my 1-2 dmen locked up.

I can't imagine many prospects being a better linemate fit for Smith than Misa. Still prefer Schaefer, but know that I'm pumped we'll be able to draft one of them!

Personally, this draft shapes up perfectly now for an SJ/CHI swap for one of their top D prospects. Would chicago part with Rinzel to swap picks with the sharks and get their clear #1C? personally, I'd even be willing to add a sweetener for that deal (dallas 1st?)
To be fair, Hawks are ready to roll with Vlasic, Rinzel and Lev as the top 3 Dmen. Hawks absolutely love Misa but they love Rinzel more. Davidson is not parting with a top pairing Dman like Rinzel to move up one spot. Hawks stay put and takes either Martone or Desnoyers.

Also Chernyshov would be the perfect 3rd man on that line with Smith and Misa.

I see no world where Davidson picks Desnoyers. Even though after Misa he is the exact player the Hawks need.

Obviously I’d love Schaefer but having a high end 2C (so he and Smith can compete for 3C and we can also experiment with Celebrini - Smith - Misa down the center) is invaluable.

I wouldn’t hate if he picked Martone, but I also think we’ve got a few guys that are similarish to him (I know he’s better but still) while we could really use a high-speed, elite scorer in our top 6.

So long as we don't galaxy brain this we either get a potential #1D in Schaefer or we actually get a player that gives us the makings of a quality young top-6

Eklund-Celebrini-XXX
XXX-Misa-Smith

That has everything you need to build an actual dangerous offense around

Don't get cute, don't get smart, take the best player available, we got the 2nd pick in a 2 player draft, be grateful for the leftovers and move on

1. Isles will not take a C. Schaefer is gone. their NHL D has no one under 25. But htey have several good youn forwards. Unwiserman, nelson, Holmstrom, Bednarik.... On D, they have NOTHING. Pulkannen and odelius? ummm.... not much there. Schaefer is just what the doctor ordered for them.

2. I too think grier prefers martone. Misa doesnt match need. However, if he selects martone #2 over Misa, it will be one of the worst GM fails Ive ever seen. Chicago desperately wants Misa. So do like 4 other teams. Grier could easily move down for a nice package and still get martone, so picking him 2nd over misa would be nothing short of horrific asset management and would leave no less than a 1st or more on the table.

imagine we walk away with martone and a 6'5 RHD who is totally NHL ready at age 21?? What a win that would be!!!

How could you know this? They don't even have a GM. I'd say it's 50/50. They may not have a strong stable of young d-men, but in Dobson they have one of the top sub-26 RHD in the sport (Makar, Seider, Faber are the only three better, add Fox and McAvoy for sub-28). Romanov is also 25. That's two top four spots. Dobson is a rather flawed player, but amongst RHD he's among the best, and he's still young enough to improve.

Meanwhile, they have two surefire top 6 forwards under 31 in Horvat (30) and Barzal (27), who's a bit disenchanted with the team. After that they have Lee (34, UFA next summer), Pageau (32, UFA next summer) and Tysplakov (26, RFA, possible middle 6 guy).

Their top three prospects are forwards, but not sure Ritchie, Nelson, or Eiserman are surefire top 6 forwards (Ritchie looks likely a middle six guy quite soon though).

I think the wisest thing for NYI to do with Lou out is to draft Schaefer, sell off Nelson, Pageau, and Pulock, and tank for McKenna/Roebrook/Stenberg to pair with Schaef.

What I expect they'll do is draft Misa, extend Dobson, invest in a few pieces, miss the playoffs, and draft 10-14th next year. Given a solid defense, Sorokin, and a few nice forward pieces (Horvat, Barzal, Lee, maybe Nelson returns), I get it. Adding Misa and Ritchie probably makes that even more appetising as out of nowhere they might have a 2nd line forward in Misa.
