Always said I won’t be greedy and would be happy with #1 or #2 and it happened! Happy with #2 but wow what a crazy lottery result. Is it just me but I am going to be really scared of Utah and what they have cooking now especially with a #4 pick now. Give me Schaefer or Misa at #2!!!

What are the chances the Islanders pass on Schaefer anyways? They have always needed a #1C, Misa fits the bill and the long shot is they go for the hometown kid in Hagens.

The Islanders don't have any key forward prospects in their pool so our chances for Schaefer are not bad...

This is about as good as it can get without actually winning the #1 pick.. And it screws the other teams in the west!

I will say watching Misa and Eiserman would be a treat on the Island.

3rd best outcome. Chicago winning would’ve been best. Locks them out of winning for 5 years and we still almost assuredly get Schaeffer.

Islanders Re definitely the type of organization to overthink the pick and not take Schaefer 100%. Either way, Misa or him was always the play so I'm stoked we get one of them

Bring back Garth Snow as GM or even better, Mike Milbury!

I mean whole year it has seemed it was #1/#2 or bust in a way, so I'm really happy. And #2nd overall felt even more unlikely than #3rd overall, so this was a giant win. Schaefer or Misa, MG please don't overthink it.

Honestly as a Utah season ticket holder this was the ideal outcome if San Jose didn't get 1st overall. Excited to see what BA has cooking.

Well, that kinda stunk. NYI winning means zero chance of schaefer. and the price to get him would be absurd. Its done... Ironically, does the schaefer pick make dobson available? haha....

Now, some interesting questions:

1. Does Grier shop #2 to chicago? They covet Misa for sure. Martone fits our needs for big physical wingers. Sharks could land a small bounty from chicago to swap picks. Rinzel? Korchinsky? Sharks could get their potential top 4D and martone?

2. Boston fell to 7: could the sharks trade the bounty (dal 1st, #33, #53 and edm 1st) for #7 to grab Mrtka?

3. Do the sharks pick misa and then use the ottawa 2nd to get epperson to complete the Saginaw line?

4. do the sharks take misa and then target the depth of the draft for D? Or, does picking Misa make trading for a top 4D essential?

Misa is a great consolation prize, but its pretty clear that this lottery means grier is gunna have to be active on the back end.

I would not be shocked for Grier to go for Martone. Though I like Misa better for his versatility and as Smith-at-C insurance.

Part of me honestly prefers Martone to Misa.

Of course, there's also a meaningful chance the Isles draft a center 1st overall.

I'm good with it. Either one of Misa or Schaefer was the goal. Maybe it's not ideal to not get our choice of the two, but honestly I like both.

He already said he was open to entertaining something stupid if Schaffer isn’t there. Allegedly Quinn Hughes is in play and given Yzermans recent trades maybe Sieder is available

Statistically, this is lucky. I won't pretend I'm not still a little disappointed. Still, Isles winning is okay in my book and I'm happy for Utah.

I mean maybe longer term, this is weirdly the best outcome. For Stanley runs you want to be built down the middle. Celebrini, Smith, Misa gives the sharks a ton of flexibility. And when injuries hits, they can be somewhat covered.

In 2024, the Sharks finally got 1OA after being robbed of it in 1991.

In 2025, the Sharks have a great chance of taking a player who had CHL Exceptional Status, after being robbed of one who would have had it if it existed back then, in 1991.

I think it's more likely he goes Martone over Misa. Mike has proven not to big brain picks imho. We were worried about Eiserman at 11 and 14, we were worried about not picking Cherny at 33, he didn't do something weird AF with 11 when faced with both Dick and Buium.

I think we can expect Misa, or Schaefer if isles take 1C, or Martone is the left field pick.
