Someone tell me why after the All-Star Break this year Garrett Crochet didn't pitch more than four innings in a single one of his 14 starts
When did bloom make a deal like this?
Workload management. Still building his arm upSomeone tell me why after the All-Star Break this year Garrett Crochet didn't pitch more than four innings in a single one of his 14 starts
Meidroth will be interesting to watch as wellOr
or it just might be because he doesn’t want to provide top of the rotation value at league minimum, probably that
Every pitcher is an injury risk, you can’t play scaredy cat
Very good prospect but that’s depth you can trade from given the outfield situation we have in the org. Same with Meidroth. Teel is the piece that truly hurts but yeah give me the 25 YO top of the rotation guy
Doesn’t feel like that all, I think you’re underselling Crochet. You have to give to get and this doesn’t seem excessive at all
Guys they just got a 25 YO ace without giving up a top 3 guy. Thats insane

Much more risky paying a 30 year old pitcher $220 mill with an injury history like Fried than a 25 YO pitcher with an injury history imo. The half a decade more of wear and tear mattersHe didn't because he wasn't allowed to. That's my exact point. Breslow was Bloom 2.0 last year. Literally no difference.
Then, as has been reported, ownership decided after the WS they need to change their approach. They were gonna do something "big" because they had to, except they won't actually pony up. This is the end result, the one thing I said weeks ago I absolutely did not want them to do.
You’re giving up Roman Anthony without any of the question marks (and those question marks to me are easily explained)I think our disagreement is over how we view Crochet. He's a mega talent, no question. But he's got about 100 innings as a major league starter (before they essentially shut him down last year). He's already had TJ once and I'd be surprised if he doesn't eventually need it again. Plus he's only got 2 more years of control.
Did they give up a king's ransom? No. But to me he's just not a guy where I have enough faith in him to pay a serious price. I'd rather spend assets on a lesser player with more of a history of success or on a younger player with more years of control.
Guess we sign McCann now LOLWhat about a top catching prospect? Isn't that exactly who you keep?
The funny thing is I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to throw another pitch without an extension, but that's really just because he knows his arm's about to fall off.
I don't know, pretty sure everything they've done so far says the opposite.
I just heard this discussed on radio. The White Sox apparently did that intentionally.Someone tell me why after the All-Star Break this year Garrett Crochet didn't pitch more than four innings in a single one of his 14 starts
Agreed, he will have to build on that. I ultimately don’t think that will be a problem for him.Ace talent.
Gotta pitch more than 146 innings in any season before you're an actual ace. Them's the rules.
I am not drinking that Koolaid yet. They could have had Fried and all they had to do was match according to reports.

we are probably paying a steeper price if he had the 180 inning season under his belt
I see where you’re coming from aside from Breslow- I need to see more but so far I think he’s been okI'd rather pay a steeper price for an actual ace than pay a (still really) big price for a potential ace.
You know how much I hated the thought of this exact type of deal for Crochet, so you can imagine how I feel now that it happened while good options are still out there in free agency.
I'm so disgusted by this cheap rinky dink operation I think this was the straw that broke my Red Sox back.
I think Breslow is an unqualified dolt working for an uncaring conglomerate who cares about money more than wins. I defended them for years, including through giving away Mookie Betts. Last off-season turned me against ownership. This off-season is turning me against the whole organization.

Immediate report is that this trade means they're out on Burnes.
The trade makes way more sense if they now sign Burnes! Just confirms what seems obvious: they did this because it doesn't cost them money, only prospects.
Mid-market run organization.
That's what many feared all along. Using prospects to save money. And here we are. I don't think this this has been a well run organization for at least 5 years and it's not suddenly going to get better.
It's early --- even though the time between TG and Soto signing seemed like a month.
I'm not all in on them yet ---- but if they pick up another quality SP, a reliever or two and find a way to move Devers off 3B, I can get behind it.
Coming back from TJ …..proceed with cautionSomeone tell me why after the All-Star Break this year Garrett Crochet didn't pitch more than four innings in a single one of his 14 starts
