2025 HF Oil Mock Draft - CBJ OTC 11:57AM

The goal is to find enough managers for everyone to only have one team. If we don't fill up we will put a call out for managers who are willing to take a second and assign teams using a random draw. Hoping to start this Wednesday morning so we have a few days. If you know of any posters who would make a good addition reach out.

If you are a poster just reading this and not sure, I assure you that this is the best draft, you will gain lots of knowledge of draft prospects, and it will make the actual draft much more entertaining as you watch the prospects you have drafted and researched get picked.
Also for anyone who is on the fence for joining this is for fun so dont worry about making any bad picks or anything like that :)

We are just passed half full... 16 teams taken and @belair is in, just hasn't picked a team. Please tag anyone you think might be interested, and DM me if you are willing to take a second team. We will full the managers in tomorrow night and clock will start Wednesday morning. The more managers the more fun, so let's try to get at least 10 more.

If you are on the fence, or unsure, their are several teams with very few picks, like the Oilers who only have 3. Good way to get your feet wet with less than a full complement of picks.

I edited my post as I'd only glanced at the initial PM, thinking it was a fantasy draft. I'll take the Ducks, if available.

Reaching out to some names who haven't participated in the draft for a few years, but worth a shot!

@Messrules11 @Dan Kelly @BoldNewLettuce @Joey Moss @ujju2 @Llamamoto @Jumptheshark @Slats432 @OiledUp @m0pe @Zaddy @Stud Muffin @OB5 @The Head Crusher

If you look at the original post, I have updated the available teams with the picks they have in the draft. (Don't hold me to it, just a quick snapshot). Would prefer Oiler posters for this one, but if anyone knows good posters from other fanbases whose team is available reach out, still teams with several picks available.

I could try and draft Czechs again ---

Radim Mrtka's Player Profile

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 26th: "The giant, right-shot defenceman provides a wide-ranging skill set. He’s proven he’s capable of contributing better than secondary offence (3G-32A in 43 regular season games) and can be relied upon to block shots and kill plays defensively with his size and length."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 25th: "Mrtka can transport pucks down ice, activate and join the rush, walk the line and even side-step pressure in control. He shows poise and comfort on the puck with a willingness to hold onto it and make a play."

Smaht Scouting - March 23rd: "His defending on the rush is excellent, he closes gaps very well, has good edgework that lends itself to strong lateral mobility, and he uses his reach effectively. His in-zone defending is a strength as well, his awareness and reading of plays is pretty high-end, but he does lean a bit too much on his reach at times, allowing plays to continue when he should’ve been able to close them out had he not relied purely on it."

Kareem Elshafey - FC Hockey - March 9th: "Mrtka is a towering 6-foot-6 right-handed defender who, since joining the WHL, has justified a jump in his draft stock. He skates really well for his size and has subtly impressive offensive qualities on top of his obvious defensive ability."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 28th: "His mobility at 6-foot-6 makes him an incredibly intriguing package, but it's his competence with the puck in any situation that will make teams interested in him on draft day. He could be a minute muncher who can capably move the puck up the ice after shutting the opposing team down."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 26th: "Hasn’t taken long to adjust to North America. He’s a horse who can eat minutes, lean on opponents and provide a bomb of a shot from the point."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - February 21st: "The big right-shot defenseman has made a smooth adjustment to hockey in North America after starting the season playing limited ice time with Trinec in the top professional league in the Czech Republic. The extra work he's getting has allowed him to showcase his outstanding skating and growing offensive game. Defensively, he can use his long stick to keep forwards to the outside or break up plays on the rush."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - February 21st: "The right-shot defenseman (6-6, 207), born in the Czech Republic, is hard to miss. The two-way defenseman has great hockey sense and competitiveness."

I've got @landy92mack29 covering the Avs few picks. Assuming @BoldNewLettuce and @GrumpyKoala pick teams that will leave 6 teams left. I have @5 Mins 4 Ftg @GrandLarseny @Jimmi McJenkins and myself willing to take 2 teams, that leaves 2 teams left. Need confirmation from the aforementioned 2 and 2 more to step up then we are good to go for the clock first thing tomorrow morning. Last push guys, go out and find us some managers!

@DigitalBoldy has been recruited for the Wild. @scott57 will take a second team. One team left. With as many notifications as we’ve given GrumpyKoala without a pick of team I’m think he’s out, so if anyone else wants to step up for a second I’ll throw the leftovers in a random picker and divy them up and the clock will start first thing in the morning.

And we're off... if you asked for a second team, check out the OP and see who you got. @5 Mins 4 Ftg @scott57 @GrandLarseny

The Dallas Stars are still open, but don't have a pick until the 3rd round. Let's give it some time and see if someone else pops up. @Jimmi McJenkins and the New York Islanders are on the clock starting in the morning, but picks can commence any time now.

Good luck and happy drafting everyone!

Also, please as the draft gets filled in, double check your picks are accurate, I won’t be held responsible for data entry mistakes!

All 7 rounds of the draft are updated. It is the responsibility of each manager to make sure their picks are accurate. If something doesn't look right, please DM myself, @Soli and @McDNicks17 . Once a pick has been made, it is too late to go back and change it, so please look through now.

The last 4 picks of each round are currently ordered by the standings and conference. ie, if the final 4 play out like the standings show, the Stars will beat the Hurricanes in the cup final (I am not assuming anything different despite my strong beliefs otherwise):

29: Panthers
30:Oilers
31:Hurricanes
32:Stars

If a round is done prior to picks being made, I will update the draft positions moving forward, but not until the round is over.
