McCarthy out…that tells me Jerry probably tried to keep him for like 2 years instead of the 4 McCarthy can get elsewhere….

This kinda bummed me out.

Then I thought — can Jerry do better? Or can he do worse??

I think it’s 25/75 (better/worse). So let Jerry be Jerry

I mean he’s locked into UNC for now right? Besides….Jerry is going to want someone “controllable”…
I read about this — Belichick is a 10m “lock” for UNC until June 1. Then it drops all the way to 1m. They payout to UNC.

So I hope not.

And I fully agree with you, about the control issue.

Jerry is what? 82yrs old? How long does he really have? He may let it go — to some degree — for a guy like BB

Jerry was asked very recently if he would ever give up the GM duties and he basically said "hell no, I bought the team so I could do this". He'll have to die before they hire a real NFL GM like Josh did. Which is good for us.

Given that, Jerry's drafts have been solid for a decent while. Lamb, Parsons, Bland, Tyler Smith, Diggs, even Zeke and Dak were good picks. If we had hit like some of those we would be much farther ahead vs all those complete busts that Ron saddled us with.

Yea, I don’t think Jerry is as desperate to win another SB before he passes, as has been assumed. His actions the past few years make clear that he values lording over his empire, and strengthening the brand more.

He waits until the last minute to sign players cause he likes the media attention. Doesn’t seem to care that it costs way more in cap space. Same with this McCarthy thing - he’s now a couple weeks behind other team’s w/ openings. But, boy this gets him a lot of attention today!

Yep this, he bought his dream job and he’ll probably die in it…

OMG, that would be a shit-show of epic proportions. His schtick might work for college, but when he comes up against an ego as big as his own -- who's getting paid more then he is -- the implosion will be spectacular.

He’s been a success at every level so far. I agree with the former players and execs I’ve seen on tv speak on the subject…I wouldn’t bet against him succeeding as an NFL HC, especially if he goes to a decently run organization.

I feel for the Vikings and Darnold. They had kind of a miracle season but it’s fallen apart these past few weeks. Pretty wild to go 14-4 on the season and have losses to only 2 teams, the Lions and Rams getting them twice.
Vikes are loaded for the future. They have an elite team already, and have JJ coming in as their future QB. He's inheriting a similar situation to the one he had at Michigan -- a great football team, all he has to is be its custodian.

Only problem for Minnesota is their division, which is currently and will likely remain the toughest in football.

I never bought into the MIN hype because they just didn't look like a great team to me. The Rams and Lions are good teams so not surprising they beat MIN.

Who else did the Vikings beat this year? All trash teams for the most part other than maybe GB and they've been inconsistent.

I have no issue with Jerry other than Dan wanted to be just like him but he wasn’t. He is going to go down with the ship.

I like contrarian owners like Jerry, Al Davis, Mark Cuban, and even Ted Leonsis.

So, by the transitive property does this mean Detroit is actually beatable? Maybe MIN was just too inept to exploit all their defensive injuries last week?

I saw today that the Lion’s D is bottom 3 in a few key stats when facing running QBs.

(I believe this is what the kids call ‘hopium’)

NSFW language but this is pretty funny.

I can totally see Rivera pushing all the buttons for Jerruh and manipulating him into some kind of "America's team restoration" thing. Used to work for Snyder, flag-waving military angle, etc.

Would be a perfect fit and ensure Dallas stay a middling to bad team for a few years.

Approve.
