Who the heck was that coming out of the pen for the bottom of the 9th?

EDIT: There's my answer. Guy who was a waiver claim from Arizona who was a gas can with the d'backs.

It's a chance to see what he is, I guess.

Lukes looking really good. Jays going to need a legit LHP masher or two to platoon with all these newfound lefties.
Lukes has been great. It’s hard to tell if we have something here or if it’s another small sample size blip from a career AAA guy which is probably the case. The Jays will have a lot of competition for that 4th outfield spot next season between Loperfido, Lukes and Roden knocking on the door. If they sign a scrub 4th outfielder again I.e Kiermaier I will lose it.

I mean he’s hit well enough to deserve a legit shot for at least the past couple of seasons, but just couldn’t get in either due to being blocked last year or injuries this year. Sometimes you can spark some magic with these overcooked guys. It will definitely be interesting to see what they do with Lukes/Loperfido/Roden. At this point I’m also of the opinion that Roden has nothing left to prove in the minors.

Even if none of them turn into top players, I think the chances are good one of them will become at least a 2 WAR, .700 OPS-level player. That would save us $10 million compared to a player like Kiermaier. You could then invest the saved money into a top-tier bat instead of spending $10 + million on a .680-700 OPS 2 war player (KK) and $15 million on another average player. This way, you could use 750 k or league min on a 2 WAR position player and $25-30 million on a star bat, like Santander, or Teo for close to the same total cost as Kiermaier and Turner. So they run a rotation of Lukes, Roden and Loperfido until one establishes themselves as a 4th outfielder as their floor with the potential of something more.

If we want to be honest one of the biggest issue of this team is Gorge Springer. Can't spend that kind of money on a guy hitting 219 with an OBP of barely 300 and not much power. He's not speedy gonzales on base either.

If he's playing like that in the first half next season that's something the management will have to address. I'd argue atm the team is better with him off the lineup.

Yeah I agree. At the very least bat him 6th-8th.

There’s a legit chance Sale gets a no hitter today with the lineup we’ve trotted out there.

Edit: Happy to be wrong!

A bit late because I've been outside all morning, but WTF was with the ump going after Cabrera? Ok, fine. He probably shouldn't have been so demonstrative (I don't think it was that big of a deal, but whatever. Sensitive baby fans are going to whine about him being disrespectful and inappropriate then go right back to tomahawk chopping) but Springer had him and was escorting him away and it was done, then in rolls the ump from out of frame to keep on him so much that Schneider had to back the ump off.

Umps should be able to be fined and suspended the way players are because he was absolutely escalating that situation in order to be a tough guy.
