Why isn't Davis Schneider full time lead off hitter? Truly puzzling and you have to wonder if John Schneider has command of the room if he's letting a vet like Springer dictate where he hits. Springer shouldn't even be in the lineup right now and really should be hitting 8th/9th when he is. Media is so soft on the Jays.

Davis Schneider has a Career OBP of like .390. he gets on base 4 of every 10 at bats. He should be everyday leadoff hitter.

Yeah man they stink, but are you willing to agree that the 5-9 is not the worst in the league? They’re literally the main reason we get any runs.
Yeah they've actually been a Pleasant surprise. Especially Varsho and IKF.

Varsho has actually been alot better then I thought he would be.

They have so many players near or below .200 its hilarious. 10-15 years ago they'd be DFA'd or in the minors.
Most of those guys would not make the 1994 Expos lineup. Like Springer is not beating Walker. Varsho is not beating Moise Alou. KK is certainly not beating Grissom. Schneider would probably share duty with Lansing. Beau would not beat Cordero the way he is playing atm. IKF is not beating Sean Berry. Jansen and Vlad are the only two who would make that lineup and Vlad it's mostly because Floyd was very young at 21. In fact KK, Varsho and Springer would struggle to beat the 4th OF of the Expos for a roster spot since the Expos 4th OF was Rondell White.

Springer was a bad signing as he was already on the decline, 30 years old and injury prone already.

Never the less he's here.

problem is why does Schneider keep playing him lead off even though he's been bad all year batting first?

The league has trended to lower batting avgs, keeping up with HRs and striking out a lot. I dont know if that's a batters preference, or pitchers are better at gassing everyone with flamethrowing arms. Low avgs are becoming a norm so even guys like Bo and Vlad will trend down. Not to .200 as thats overly bad, but .300 hitting is rare.

But it seems players are all trying to act like Steve Balboni. Low avg, gun for HR, lots of K's. BBs arent even going up any noticeable amount. So it's not like players are trying to amp up on HR or walks.

According the baseball ref, league batting avg is down to .239 s of now. There's only a handful of years with about the same numbers scattered throughout 100 years of tracking. And that even included pitchers hitting. So technically .239 now is really an all time low for non-pitching batting.

OPS at .696 is at pre-1960s levels even with no pitchers hitting.

Crazy.

Going by today's lineup, coach is back to his usual lineup.... Springer, Bo, Vlad, Turner.

Davis Schneider is a streaky hitter, but no doubt one of the best on the team now (maybe even the best along with limited AB Jansen).

Some reason the coach doesn't give him a chance until the last bunch of weeks at full time play, but almost aways back half of the lineup.

The team needs hitting the past couple years. And you got a bat who can get hot from a player who also hustles. And the coach uses him as a platoon player most of the time. Makes zero sense.

Well look at that. Davis hit a HR today too.

Springer now batting .196 with a .560 OPS. And coach still keeps him lead off for 40 games.

Thanks for this blast from the past with all those name drops! :)

Glad Springers hitting leadoff still. f*** you Schneider your stupid pos.

.192 leadoff hitter. Gotta love it.

Just keep losing. Not hard to do though. Pathetic organization top to bottom
Coach must have some secret innovative way of managing line ups because I thought the right way to generate runs is to put at the top of the lineup guys who can get on base and power bats to drive them in.

The bottom of the lineup are weak hitters with the 9 slot guy being the worst (which includes pitchers when they used to bat).

But Schneider keeps putting in guys like Springer and Bo as the top two batters.

Springer has been bad leading off all year and still there. Bichette's best batting all year is when he got moved down the line up for a week. Yet coach puts him back batting second behind the worst starting batter on the team.

The hottest batters are Jansen and Davis and they get regulated to bottom half of the lineup almost every game.

Davis is a much better hitter than Biggio for 2B position. Both players have played roughly the same number of games. Why? Davis should be the clear player as the team needs hitting.

Makes zero sense.

Is anybody still preaching patience with this team? Changes must start with Atkins and Schneider. If Shapiro won’t fire his buddy, then he should go as well.

Either trade for a high average lefty power bat now or gut this team while value high for these guys. We are embarrassing as hitters what the hell happened?

The beauty is that someone in here will pull out a bullshit stat that says they’re not as pathetic as everyone thinks and are actually not as bad as we think. Reality, they’re as shit offensively as everyone knew they would be.
Have you not been paying much attention around here? No one has a positive message regarding the offence. No one is championing management anymore. No one like Schneider but that's not new. I've had faith that they could be good and they really could but no one knows what happened to Bo. Springer is done but somehow we refuse to move him or remove him altogether from the lineup. Why the F Vogelbach is still on this team is reason enough to fire whoever is making that call. Literally brings nothing to the table. Looks like a great clubhouse guy and that's about it. Kirk being this bad with the bat is surprising. It's just all broken apart now and it's not really a team you try and rebuild. This one needs to go down to the studs and be completely rebuilt and with a new GM. I want Atkins fired before we start moving pieces out.
