Brennan Othmann is the absolute anti-christ of being soft and perimeter play. Thrives in the dirty areas, physical, decent hands, and a bastard to play against.

We drafted this kid and he's putting in the work and learning in our system.

He's the polar opposite of all the things we complain about with some of our stars over the years. And many on here talking about trading him out.

WTF, people.

The Goodrow brigade when you post a picture of his crappy impacts

That's what I see at least over the last 5-6 weeks. Guys like @GAGLine and @Clark Kellogg would know even better since they have been watching from day 1. It's not that he is afraid to get into the dirty area but he seems to be content in waiting to get fed the puck to use his shot. And he doesn't have the best quickness like a Berard in order to retrieve the puck or beat defenders with his speed.
A lot of the time when I'm watching, I'm only half watching because BC and/or the Rangers are also playing. But I would say this is a fair assessment based on what I've seen.

Chychrun and Buch would probably cost 2 1sts and Othmann and a Sykora type of prospect

Is that worth it?

I'd be more inclined to give up a 1st + prospect for Chychrun and a 3rd for Zucker
It would cost more than that because you'd need retention unless Goodrow was shipped out.

Whats the cost of getting Duclair... I'm in that lane, just make it happen. The pens aren't gonna give us Guentzel without a massive overpay and Buch shouldn't be brought back if only because we can't lose that trade twice, it would be embarassing, trading a guy for nothing, then giving a bunch to get him back only to have him be a dud with Zib and Kreider who have lost a step.

Igor extension is another factor in these calculations. But Guentzel is signable. And maybe makes a guy like Kreider more tradeable down the road? Not saying I would do that. Also by year 2 of a Guentzel contract, Panarin and Trouba's money would be off the books. Just some variables to think about.
Trouba and Kreider also become tradable. Cap likely hits 90-92m 2025 summer too.

2024 4th and one of our 2025 5th's unless they like one of our middle of the road prospects?

anti-christ? LOL. assuming you meant antithesis

Only way he's moved is for a RWer who will be here for more than a year. I don't want to trade him but I see the logic behind it. He's moved for a 'win-now' RWer that's hopefully replaced by Gabe eventually.

I'd rather trade a mid pick for a guy like Zucker tbh

Yeah I don't want to trade him for no good reason or a crappy rental but I don't see Othman as untouchable as I'm not convinced he's a lock to be a scoring NHLer yet

No one is calling him soft or saying he is just a perimeter player, but if you watch him play in Hartford, you'll see that he's depending too much on his shot, always setting himself up for the one timer or taking low percentage shots instead of being more patient to find a better opportunity.

I'm not suggesting we should trade him or that he won't be a good player for us, but he still has some development to do before he is ready for a full time NHL spot.

Duhaime to Colorado it looks like. I am in the minority but I wasnt overly impressed by their moves yesterday. Duhaime and Colton on a line will infuriate opponents though.

Rangers should throw Kakko in Buch trade and add Trenin to replace him on line 3.

It sure would be something to trade Othmann for guentzel and watch othmann become the next Guentzel in Pit. Let the Canes have him.
