Agree. That 1st for Vatrano is whats scaring me.

I believe Drury can wait and find someone for Mikas right for cheap, and also get another piece on D if hes patient

The one good thing about Vatrano is that he has term and it deepens the team for next year as well, but thats like the one thing we would have to tell ourselves not to barf

I think the analytics folks would tell you Stamkos didnt play C because he wasnt that good at it. Either way, my point is that everyone saying our core isnt good enough. Nobody's core is good enough until they win. There is 0 reason why the Rangers can't. Not saying you do, but there is a loser mindset among Ranger fans.

I'll be the first to say I *don't* believe our core is good enough to win. I don't think Mika is a Cup winning 1C and I don't think Trouba is a Cup winning captain. I think this core is flawed and has an ECF ceiling.

Hence why they should be augmenting the core with actual difference making middle of the roster players. Not rentals and praying for Kakko to do something. You can't be cheap AND lazy. Drury needs to pick one.

I'm conflicted on his leadership ability, but bigger picture I think the two of them are huge reasons why we're not a great 5v5 team. And that's been the limiting factor for this organization for quite awhile - 5v5 play.

Okay, I've seen this a bunch on Pacioretty. How many people have watched him play? The games I've seen he is skating very well and he's strong on the puck. 15 points in 25 games tells me he is still effective.

There is no such thing as a team that is capable of making the ECF but incapable of winning the Stanley Cup.

Vince Mercogliano saying Buchnevich could be a possibility due to cost for Vatrano (get the better player) but it'll mean Drury having to swallow his pride and I just don't see it happening and neither does he.
