You’re just saying it’s not impossible. There are plenty of reasons why they probably won’t.
Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
(which is an absolute itself, but my point stands!)

Whats the latest?
1) It has been reported that it isn't true.
2) Perreault and Othmann are out, but that still leaves Sykora, Berard, Laba, Lamb, Chmelar, Fortescue, Barker, etc. There is some quality there, just not as much as our top 2. That's not to say that we will or should trade any of them, but we have some assets to work with besides our 1st round pick.
Wennberg definitely won't be the only move we make. You don't pay for retention and then not use the space you purposely kept open.
Definitely in fantasy land with those lopsided proposals lolIf we were in fantasy land which trade could make us better.
Eberle and Shane Wright
For
Kakko and this year's first aka trade for this year and our future (finding that center we're looking for long term). Not losing Kakko but acquiring an asset for our future.
Chychrun and Pinto
For
Othmann and this year's first. Some might want to trade Kakko instead of Othmann. Personally, I really like Othmann and would try a different package of something like Sykora, Jones and this year's first but I don't think that gets it done.
Second trade allows the Rangers to either sign or trade Lindgren this offseason, trade Jones this deadline to Arz for a 2nd and 4th round picks this year.
Pinto would replace Othmann or Kakko and once again we're receiving that center were looking for long term.
Both trades would require a first for Eberle or Chychrun and while it hurts losing a Othmann or Kakko we're gaining a young center that will be needed to replace Wennberg in the offseason.
I believe both trades work cap wise with sending down Edstrom or Rempe.
Little all over the place a little crazy as we wait it out until 3PM today.
Makes me feel like we overspent on Wennberg even more. I feel he should of been worth at best a 3rd alone or a 4th and 5thso everyone wants our top prospects and first round picks for b level players but are taking this for the guentzels and hanafins? Get out of here

One person’s opinion:
To Ottawa- Braden Schneider
To NY- Jacob Chychrun 50%
Shane Pinto
2024 2nd round pick
Make the offer. If Ottawa hangs up the phone, oh well.
Jacob Chychrun has been playing RD for a majority of the year because Senators are loaded at LD.
Chychrun wants out of Ottawa.
Senators get a cost controlled Canadian stud RD.
Rangers get a top 6 young NY forward and a LD to shore up that side and gives them Lucky Lindgren protection.
Scanlin is ready. He’s a big physical steady d-man who has been playing RD since the end of last season.
Since Trouba doesn’t seem to be going anywhere why not turn an asset who is stuck on our 3rd pair to address current and future needs.
That and centers.Nah - you have to pay for salary retention.

Amazing, we trade the least valuable player in the trade for 2 players (one with 50% retention) who are more valuable! lolOne person’s opinion:

add Robertson and Ottawa adds a 3rd or a 4th.I don't think Ottawa hangs up, but I could see them wanting an additional asset because the 2nd round pick will be a high pick in the draft.
I like Schneider but I could get behind something like this deal. Chychrun signed for next year, Pinto a center we're looking for and a 2nd pick which we don't have.
The Rangers aren’t giving a 2nd, they’re receiving a 2nd.The Rangers dont have the 2nd to trade
