Vatrano retained is worth a first because he’s got another year year on him. You get two kicks at the can on the cheap with him

We know he can skate and shoot and play with Mika and Kreider

Buch is the no brainer but either he or drury are being assholes here about a reunion.

Zucker is trash

Eberle would be great

If you can’t make the right move up front you have to trust kakko and push your chips in on chychrun and fix the left side of the defense which is honestly the bigger hole no one wants to talk about

I think I'd like to know the price on Chychrun and make that the target. He's a quality player and a long term asset and you might be getting him at a little discount currently.

Assume that Panarin - Trocheck - Lafreniere is your first line. You can't have Kakko with MZ/CK because it doesn't work, but if you have Vesey there instead and you are deploying them as a middle six line, which you should be, it's less egregious. Cuylle - Wennberg - Kakko is the other middle six line.

You've upgraded the defense. Go to war.

In the offseason I'm clearing out Trouba and Mika's salary and looking for a 1C with my assets not named Kakko, Perrault and Othmann.

Kakko has by every metric been much better there than vesey

So you’d stick with it and hope Cuylle Wennberg vesey could be a good third line which it should be

Drury might be able to pick up a cheap bottom six guy too before 3pm along with chychrun

what 1C are you getting with basically no worthwhile assets?

Goodrow will likely be bought out/traded with something minimal to move….
Trouba at 28 will carry a 8 mill cap hit but not real dollars.. it’s lower.
Budget teams like that.
With only 2 years left on his deal, He’ll bring back draft capital or prospects.

Moving Mika is going to be next to impossible with 6 more years and a NMC….
It’s just not realistic….
moving on from Goodrow is now with younger/cheaper guys that play that style in the system.
Moving Trouba is going to be dependent on Schneider and the rest of this season/playoffs….

Honestly if they want to make a big splash, it would likely be Kreider that’s the easier of the 2 to move, but I highly doubt either are going anywhere….

It’s amazing People are firmly in Kakko corner for his body of work, but want to throw Lindgren to the wolves after 1 bad season where he’s obviously been knocked around more then usual.
Both are similar in age as well.

Tbh I think Lindgren stays and moves down a pair or 2. Probably signs a 4-5 yr deal and can be moved in year 3 or so if better options make sense….
Chemistry with fox/ tough minutes against top competition etc…
I doubt they move him tbh

I really don't trust this core. I'd rather make cheap acquisitions or hockey trades than push it all to the middle with this incarnation. We've been riding good goaltending and our powerplay all season. We've looked like complete dogshit at ES all season, and we have major problems on defense. We tend to give up goals in bunches, which is never a good sign. I'd rather be tight with trading away assets and hope we catch fire in the playoffs. 93, 24, 21, 55, 8, and 79 are all issues on this roster (to varying degrees), and ones that we likely can't fix in deadline trades.

The Rangers core is similar to Tampa's before they made the moves to push them over the top. I really hope the Rangers make some interesting helpful moves today instead of putting a band-aid on a bullet wound with Vatrano. They need to raise their ceiling, but Drury seems like he is pivoting to moves that raise their floor. It's the wrong move. We will see what happens by 5.

Think about it this way, if Mika turns it around and figures it out, it would be like we traded for a #1 center at the deadline! Just imagine the upgrade to this 1st place group to acquire a true #1 center!

Brooks mustve been annoyed by the Kane stuff last year because it seems like he took this deadline off. He got Wennberg right a few weeks back but zip on the RW search aside from the general stuff we already knew.

Good day to you all. I'll be clenching my ass the whole day.

Drury acquires Buch, Eberle and Vatrano and Lavy puts them all on one line of RWs or @Tob deletes his account.

I'm sad with this deadline because I think we are close. But it seems like there's 2 things going on.

1)Did Dolan truly tell Drury he can't trade our first this year? We will eventually find out either way.

2)Who do we honestly have to move? If the top prospects are out, then it's essentially Jones and Robertson.

Which leads to a deadline where we get a depth player for a few picks. Wennberg might be it folks.

Sending Kakko to the Pens wouldve bit us in the ass one way or another.

And again, Geuntzel plays LW. Would he have stayed there? Kreider to the Right? No Kakko on the right? Laf still on his offside? What happens to PP1?

Excellent player, so you figure things out, but the line chemistry wouldve been off. They wouldve had to make another deal for a RW just to fit him in. Otherwise you are looking at Brodz, Vesey or Goodrow on RW3. How is that lengthening the lineup?

Im open to trading Kakko over the summer for the right return even though I think he has more value than a lot of fans, but when you are putting together a Cup run its all about depth. Kakko slots SO well on that 3rd line with Cuylle, especially with a real center in Wennberg. You need to win 16 games and theres a lot of minutes and line rolling to try and shut down potent offenses.

Depth is so important so it was less about moving the actual player for me and more about losing the position/role/depth (If in fact it was Kakko Dubas wanted).

Chychrun is the move. The forwards arent needle movers outside of Buch. Chychrun is the type of D every team covets. Young minute eater on a good contract and will be UFA at an age you have no problem extending if his play warrants. Gus will come out of the lineup but if you're worried about injuries to Lindy and Chychrun, you need a 7 who can step in seamlessly.

Chychrun-Fox
Miller-Schneider

As the top 4 for the next 5 years? Hell yeah brother.

That's been the NYR for years, elite goaltending and PP reliant, dries up in the POs. Thought Guentzel would've been a real add but looking at the return not sure they ever had a real chance at him. I've seen some fans mention D is a bigger need and I don't think they're wrong.
