so they got 2nd, Bunting and bunch of ok prospects.
I wonder if a first, Robertson and Sykora is similar?
Would have loved to be a fly on the wall to see what CD offered

None of the prospects move the needle and Bunting is pretty meh.

If they don't make it to the cup finals it's a 2nd round pick and no 5th round pick. So Drury paid more for Wennberg then Pitts paid for Guentzel minus the quantity of mediocre prospects and player.......ugh

Yeah but unless I'm missing something, I don't see anything remotely resembling quality. It's pure quantity.
Bunting is decent, 36 points in 60 games this year, in his 20s, signed for 2 more years

Pittsburgh views Bunting in terms of picks/prospects as well, something like a 2nd + okay prospect

But, of course, there are no standout pieces in here. There never was going to be. It doesn't happen for rentals and doesn't even really happen for players signed for 1.5 seasons (the bonus rental). We didn't get back anything top tier when we dealt McDonagh at 50%, so we should know better. Teams like Pittsburgh haven't done this shit in most of their fanbases' lifetimes, so they don't know. Now they do.

Drury paid more minus all of the other stuff that the Canes paid. F you, Drury

We don't really have a mid-tier roster player with multiple years of control, albeit likely slightly overpaid, similar to Bunting. They seemed to really want a roster player to either appease Sid and/or flip for other assets this year or next.

And Penguin fans were laughing at us over what they could have potentially gotten from us?

No. You know what's funny?

Bunting was acquired to be a Soviet commissar pushing Dubas’ doctrine.

Bunting wasn’t working in Carolina, so while not a cap dump, because he does put up points, and will be fine over his contract left, they probably look it as clearing that money off the books.

yep agreed. Said all along that is why they probably asked for Kakko or someone like Cuylle. Glad CD didn't budge.

Someone mentioned it hours ago and nailed it.

IF Kakko+Othmann+a 1st were on the table, this deal would have been done at the time it was proposed.
Forget that, if Kakko +1st OR Othmann + 1st was out there he would be here. But that doesn't happen for rentals. It doesn't even really happen for super rentals (1.5 years)
