Early speculation on potential roster:

Prospects that are eligible for the tournament are those on NHL deals or slotted to play in the CHL.

The prospects that didn't attend development camp but could play in the rookie tournament are: Zack Ostapchuk, Tyler Kleven and Tyler Boucher.

Drafted prospects from Senators development camp that could play in the rookie tournament include: Leevi Merilainen, Matthew Andonovski, Jorian Donovan, Tomas Hamara, Djibril Toure, Carter Yakemchuk, Lucas, Ellinas, Stephen Halliday, Oskar Petterson

Undrafted prospects from Senators development camp that could play in the rookie tournament: Michael Simpson, Anthony Cristoforo, Lucas Moore, Niall Crockner, Ryan Humphrey, Eliot L'italien, Connor Lockhart, Stuart Rolofs and Landen Ward

The Senators can also invite any CHL player who was draft eligible this year and went undrafted, any prospect that was drafted by another NHL team if their rights expire after the August 15rh deadline, as well as potentially unsigned NCAA players who are turning pro and players (up to an age limit) who played in the ECHL last season.

Last season the roster for the rookie tournament was announced on September 13th with the first game scheduled for the 18th. With the first game scheduled for the 13th that means we should likely hear the roster revealed around the 8th.

The roster will likely be very similar to one I listed earlier in this thread. It may also include ECHL players and NCAA players that are turning pro that are unsigned. CHL training camps have begun and preseason games will happen soon. Any CHL player who was draft eligible in the 2024 draft and went undrafted could be in consideration for an invite to the rookie tournament if they perform well in their CHL preseason games.

Sens d at the rookie tournament could be very physical and nasty to play against. Early speculation but it likely includes Tyler Kleven, Carter Yakemchuk, Matthew Andonovski, Djibril Toure, Jorian Donovan, and , based on the most recent rumor, Gabriel Eliasson.

It'll be interesting to see if Filip Nordberg is on the roster. Haven't heard any news about where he might be playing this season.

That will be something to watch for sure.

Kleven might be beyond this tourney though.

Already ranked 10th among U23s world wide by a prominent scout with the Athletic .. With that ranking he'd be the #1D in Ottawa and would already be the Calder favorite and shouldn't waste his time at the rookie tournament.
You really hate the pick eh. Ignoring development for big skill players completely.

If he goes the CHL route he loses his college eligibility. That's a bold move for a guy who is viewed as a long term project. Seems like he is really betting on himself. Niagara Ice Dogs have his rights, fyi.
He's a second rounder. Don't think a swedes first priority is school. But I actually would prefer if he was going to college for his development route for a big player.

I wonder if/when Ruutu starts getting some heat for his record. They haven't given him a ton of high swings, but he's been head scout in Europe since 2018-19 and we're still waiting on him to hit on a single pick in that role.

Look at his work in the first three rounds over those years - Nordberg is trending poorly, Hamara is trending poorly, Johannson is trending poorly and Jarventie is out of the organization. Then there's Pettersson, who has a chance but he looks more like organization depth, and Merilainen who has a chance, but who knows with goalies.

Definitely a worrying trend
