For what it's worth...

I don't think you ever want to be the kind of owners who hand a rookie head coach the worst roster in the league, and then fires him after one season because he struggled to win games with the worst roster in the league.

I knew going into the season that the Patriots were going to struggle. My hope was that we'd see improvement and development over the course of the season. And while I can point to Drake Maye as a win for the coaching staff, the fact remains that there haven't been nearly enough player development wins.

This is a huge off-season for the franchise. On top of possibly having the #1 pick in the draft, they need to find a way to have a much more productive free agency period. They're already at a disadvantage compared to other teams in terms of facilities (...at least for now) and tax rates... I'm not sure they can expect to attract needle-moving free agents if they've also got a coach and/or GM who are squarely on the hot seat.

I think the Krafts thought they could rebuild the organization by tweaking the way Bill did things. And clearly, they need much more than tweaking. The new practice facility is a good start, but the changes need to be much larger and they need to happen at a much faster pace. My concern at this point is that even with Drake Maye, I don't know if there's a whole lot more to sell free agents on than there was at this point last year.

Firing Mayo and Wolff after one season would be a crappy thing to do on a human level - say what you will about them, but I think they've both been pretty loyal servants to the team, and I think they've both put forth honest efforts over the past 12 months. But I don't know if the Krafts have much of a choice any more.

Mayo comes back he needs to say nothing - vanilla nothings, no jokes no sound bites, nothing

Pick a handful of media you trust and give them info the rest they can read the others columns

21 hours till potential 1 overall

He played for the team for a decade. He should already know how to do this.

The reports on Mayo last year were not great when he was undermining Bill Belichick. I will not feel bad for him at all. He will get paid handsomely and was never deserving of this job to begin with. Wolf has been on the staff and deserves blame beyond just this one year. The NFL is and should be cutthroat. Lots of money everywhere. Business.

I am in the minority but I think Van Pelt has been fine this year. At least if we're giving him credit for QB development. He and the QB coach get a decent grade from me. The Browns just fired their OC again. Give Van Pelt a 2nd year with Drake Maye and better personnel and I think it would look pretty good.

Van Pelt is the least of their problems in terms of staff.

Bills 100% threw this game.

McDermott saw that Mayo couldn’t even stop Trubisky and had to go to the secret weapon in Mike White
Of course they did, why would you let a meaningless win get your rival 1OA? Smart move by them.

It's unreal how goddamn dumb this entire organization has become.

Only way this result is worse, is if Kraft uses it as a reason to keep Mayo and Co, because they "rallied and finished strong" by beating a bunch of 3rd stringers.

Where are the " hoping they lose to get a better draft selection is a loser's mentality " hardos?

This year could not have ended worse.

Yeah they’re still gonna be on the board because they’re good not great.
Still need better talent than they have, plus gotta sign somebody decent

Said LTs wouldnt even be top 10 picks in an actual good draft.

ANd them getting 1OA is about trading back for futures not picking Hunter 1OA.
1OA works when there is a stud QB, not this year there ain't. Even the expert are saying that. That's why a WR is the top rated player.

I’ve never been more invested in a Patriots win.

Man that sucks. Sorry everyone.
What do the Browns do? QB?

Curious what TEN does at 1OA. They have Levis who hasn't been great, but has flashed a bit. Do they roll the dice with Ward or Sanders? Giants should just trade back at this point if both of them are drafting QB
