Defensemen
one of the top defenders is a Nova Scotian playing USA in Max Hanley Max Hanley at eliteprospects.com

Messages from the draft 2023 listing about the 2008 players.

Not going to give a top 20 ranked, but I can give you some of the names I would consider to be high up on my list...

Among defenders, I'm liking Murphy and Pelletier from the KV Kings and Batchilder from Eastern Express from the Maritimes. Liking Logan Foote's potential too. In Quebec, I'm liking Dylan Caron, Thomas Morin, Cam Chartrand, Cruz Scanzano, Noah Boily, Alexandre Taillefer, Nathan Birch, Benjamin Cossette-Ayotte, Brandon Delarosbil and Jean-Samuel Daigneault.

For forwards, I'd add the other two guys from Lac St-Louis in Yared and Santini to Rozzi. Jayden Plouffe and Romain Litalien are up there, Lygitsakos and Lottin from Mauricie are very good but on the smaller side. Liking the potential on Charles-Albert Pouliot, Benjamin Olivier and Justin Thibault as well. From the maritimes, you've got Lawrence, the top scorers from the Gulls, Wolverines and the Storm that have looked solid to me. Grady Burns has looked good in my viewings.

Not sure yet on the quality of the forwards for this draft to be honest, but I'm seeing a good quantity of defenders with good junior potential I guess.

Tynan Lawrence and Dylan Rozzi seem like the early top guys but not many guys separating themselves.

HOckey NS has named their roster for the Q Cup.

Hockey NB's camp for the 08's starts Thursday through Monday in Fredericton. Games on Saturday and Sunday night and Monday morning for those interested.

A bit surprised by the absences of Owen O'Donnell, Charlie Benigno and Logan Foote on that NS team, but it is what it is.

The HNB U16 team announcement will be delayed until after the U18 Jamboree which could be taking place on September 9-10, 2023. No reason was given to why they could not select the team sooner.

LHEQ "awards" are irrelevant as far as draft prospects goes. The only thing they are looking at are the stats, which are very inacurate in LHEQ year in year out... (especially goalies as long as you play for the best team in the league the only stat they look at is #wins)
This year's M17 "Goalie of the year" ended up drafted 13th round, finalist in 10th
one M17 defensive player undrafted, M17 offensive player drafted 10th & 11th
Doesn't look like the best players in the league to me...?

Tynan Lawrence did not play Q cup in two years. Maybe he will go to us route. Thoughts?

Possible. But Goguen didn't play any Q events last year and was going 100% Q from what I heard from some Q scouts... So you never know.

I do think he'll be considereing his NCAA options for sure.

I know 2008 players are eligible for this years draft, but are 2008 imports also eligible for the import draft this year? I know that draft is usually older players but could a team in theory select an 08 in the import draft if they wanted to?

There’s also an age component as to who is eligible for the Import draft — 17, 18 and 19-year-olds. So 2008 year born players cannot get import draft in 2024.

I appreciate that info. Would a player like this be able to attend a camp and sign without being in the import draft? Or would they have to just wait until next year altogether?
