What were you guys all saying about Mo Seider in his draft year?
13th on my board.

This was my write-up:

Give a warm welcome to the best German prospect since Leon Draisaitl. Although Seider won’t be a top 3 pick like Draisaitl, he is still a very noteworthy prospect. Right off the bat Seider’s most eye catching trait is his size. He’s already playing in Germany’s top league and it’s because his big body has allowed him to be a threat against men. Right handed defenders are seen as a commodity so teams shouldn’t be sleeping on Seider. He’s a smart defender who plays a physical shutdown game. I think he could be in the NHL a lot sooner than the majority of this year’s 1st round selections even if it’s just in a bottom pairing role. I view Seider as a reliable Niklas Hjalmarsson-like player, but with more room for production and top-end speed.

I did read article that top 5 forwards have a better hit rate then top 5 D. my hope is Celbrini (make or life simple) and then who ever is the best RD at tampa's pick.

Pro scouts get paid to watch the German League. The rest of us give opinions on guys we see. Why are you a Blackhawks fan? Because you're born close? Tribalism brother. Might as well say what's the point of watching grown men put a piece of rubber in a six by four cage.

Because it's fun.

Essentially yes

1) I really like the passion of kids playing junior hockey. I like the unstructured nature of the game at times, makes it more fun to watch.
2) it’s sort of a challenge within yourself to see if you can make some good guesses on what guys will be impact players
3) it’s fun

Nailed it.

Prospects are so fickle. I kind of understand the interest in watching them but they’re so hit or miss, and most of them miss, I can’t bring myself to be that invested in watching junior hockey. The pro’s or nothing for me, personally.
As a football casual I feel the same way about college football. Send me your best. I'll see em on Sunday.

And yes, junior hockey is fun because there's way more chaos. There's a guy playing hockey that a year from now he'll be going to school or learning a trade trying to defend a guy like Connor McDavid.

Catton is really good but he doesn't have tools that "pop" so he's hard to drool over for people that don't watch a lot of prospects.
He'll likely never dominate but I have a hard time seeing him be anything but a damn good hockey player. I can see how guys have higher ceilings in this draft obviously, but the combo of the floor and ceiling is hard to get off for me. Especially this year.

Also I've probably seen Spokane 12 or so times this year.. I'm no goalie guy but Cowan can play.

That's exactly how I view him. Very very safe bet that he'll be good. Just not a ton of star upside and if you're drafting top five that's what you're looking for.

Celebrini.. obviously no question there.
Silayev.. Came out of no where, 17 year old playing mens league D. Lots to like.. in the KHL. (Russian factor)
Demidov.. extremely talented, but playing in a league he's too good for. (Russian Factor)
Levshunov.. tons of tools but you're having to project a ton of hockey growth.
Lindstrom .. similar for me, tons of tools but think he ends up at wing and you're also projecting a ton of hockey growth
Parekh.. I mean don't even need to explain
Eiserman.. goal scorer rips it from anywhere can change angles, decent feet. Having to project a ton of growth here.
Dickinson I like a lot of his game but he's probably a 3 LD which isn't that valuable.
I don't remember seeing a collection of more raw players or existential circumstances affecting so many of the top players.

If you're saying we finish last but miss out on Celebrini, today, who do I want? I'm not even sure I could tell you.

It's the wildest 2-10 we've had in awhile for sure.

If the draft is tomorrow who are you taking at two? Catton?

I mean I don’t even know.

Probably Levshunov. Just chasing the upside. I like Demidov’s blend of talent and he does work hard. Drives play, drives the middle. MHL and Russia probably drive me away. Similar story on Silayev.

Catton probably starts at 3 or 4 for me. Just really depends on how much risk you’re willing to take.

Levshunov is a more polished Rinzel. That's not who I want at two. I haven't seen enough of the Russian kids to give an educated opinion.

Part of the reason I end up back at Catton. Yeah he’s probably a 60 point center but atleast I know I’m likely to get that. Everyone else is a swing for the fence player that could end up barely playing.

Both the Russians are extremely talented but Silayev could be Hedman or he could be Oleksiak. Good luck Kyle.

I don't hate Catton at two. I'm not asking to put you in a gotcha quote. Legitimately curious.
