If the Hawks reach for an Elick or Emery at 20, I'm going to lose my mind. Unless a defenseman falls, the Hawks really need that pick to be a forward
I'm cool with Jiricek at 20 if he gets the medical pass.

But yeah I think looking at where the D are projected to go, I think there's a high likelihood that the pick at 20 is going to be a forward.

Not gonna lie, would love to get Cole Hutson with that 34th oa pick

Our gauntlet of early 3rd late 2nd round picks are quite exciting too. Low hit rates, but that's where the true scouts shine

Alfons Frei is having a really good U18 tournament for Sweden.Would love him with the TB pick but he may gone by then.Jett Luchenco is another player on the rise.Blazing fast centre and an August birthday so will put on more mass.Trocheck is a comparable.

G Carter George keeping Canada in the gold medal game at the u18s. Projected to go in the third round. Was third in the OHL in sv% and 3rd in games played. I would take him with 62nd or 72nd overall. Has looked technically sound, poised and controlled.

Smaller side. Wouldn’t bother me though

Please no more goalies

Canada about to go on a 5 min PP down by 1 with 10 mins left in the gold medal game. Stupid penalty by Trevor Connelly, hit to the head on a player that was already being checked by Hagens.

And the legend of Gavin McKenna continues to grow. Tie game. 2 goals for McKenna today. Great play by Tij Iginla to drive the net and dish off to McKenna in the slot.

Canada up 4-3. Cole Beaudoin.

And now Tij Iginla scores.

Trevor Connelly cost the US the game.

Tij Iginla really has impressed me a lot in this tournament too. Highly doubt he's available at 20 but if he were, he'd be a steal.

McKenna hat trick goal. Assist to Carter George, heads up play to pass it up after soft US dump in by Plante for the US.

McKenna with 4 points (at least?). Puts him to 20 points in the tournament. Unreal. Just unreal.

I would be willing to take Iginla as high as 4. I heard MTL is enamoured with him and they pick just behind that range

This draft is going to be really interesting. Lots of variance with where some of these guys are ranked. If you think he's going to be a 30/30, high-compete, hard-nosed wing, I could see him going that high.

Carter George player of the game for Canada. Kept them in the game until Connelly gave them their opening. Draft this man.

Remember Canada did not even have its best squad of talent pkaying...Sam Dickinson,Zayne Parekh, and Beckett Sennecke still in playoffs...Roger McQueen and Cayden Lindstrom injured..
.
Still after getting g dominated for 2 oeriod, this Canadian squad won the 3rd period (helped by Connelky's 5 monute major) ...but O think if the missing talents were added this would not even have been as close a game..

I think Iginla does cone into consideration as a possible 4th overall ...combo of skill andgrit =what Hawks need on the wing.

He would look great riding shotgun with Bedard. 30 and 30 seems pretty safe for him. Think he has a high floor. Top 6 floor with top line winger upside

You’d have to think about taking Iginla with our own pick if you want him. And to be honest, I’d think long and hard about it assuming we’re not picking first

If the NHL wants to make money then they find a way to let Chicago win the lottery. Bedard to Chicago printed money. Nobody is going to pack the building to watch Celebrini in Anaheim, San Jose or Columbus. Fantilli and Carlsson had good seasons but you heard next to nothing about them. Chicago a bottom tow team had great crowds at a high ticket price because of Bedard. That doesn't happen in the other markets. Just sayin
That also has a lot to do with the weight and hype Bedard himself carries and Fantilli also having his season ended prematurely granted I think Columbus in particular is bad for carrying hype.

Good points.

Korchinski was in the NHL in his D+2 year. Vlasic in his D+2 year was still in college.

Korchinski's development is the last thing I'm worried about.
And yet that collegiate development, plus the AHL, likely is the reason why Vlasic is transitioning so quickly to the NHL. There’s little doubt that Korchinski would have benefited from a year or two of similar development, particularly on the defensive end.

Am I worried yet? No. Just a little concerned though.

How soon we forget Keith’s development…
Quite the contrary. I feel like it’s brought up constantly whenever we’re talking about a D prospect and it’s usually completely out of place. Just because Kieth struggled and turned into a gem people use his development path as an argument not to be critical of young defenseman.

We haven’t developed a good Dman in a long, long time. As we can see with Vlassic, talent is usually obvious and is noticeable pretty quickly.
