Who do we take second overall?

I think I’m more excited about the 20th pick this year. Seems there’s a large gaggle of players in that second to third tier, seems likely one of them will fall to us.

Also wouldn’t be shocked to see Davidson trade up with one of our seconds if someone like Dickinson falls.

I like Levshunov and Silayev but I'm picking Demidov.

This team seriously lacks high skill forwards. We have Bedard and that's it. You could say Demidov is the best player available at #2 and he fills a tremendous need. His compete level is ultra high as well. So the will to win is there.

He has 1 more year on his contract in Russia. He's said he wants to come to North America in a year.

Hawks only have picked 2nd once in the team's history, back in the 60s. They've also only drafted 1st overall two times (Kane, Bedard).

So this pick is tied with one other for the 3rd highest pick in franchise history. Not terrible.

Let's all go to the Draft Watch Party and be like those Ranger fans that cheered when the Devils took Hughes so we can look dumb five years later.

IFFFFFFFF.. Russia lets him

I find it hilarious that over the last near decade, the Wings have been worse than us for longer than us and never got a top 3 pick out of it.

All while the Hawks got a 3rd overall (Dach), a 1st overall (Bedard), and a 2nd overall.

Just need to bring Kaner home to make them hurt just a bit more. And then 1st overall next year, of course.

One must consider possibility that Hawks trade down

If they like a guy who is going to be available at say #5 (Habs pick) and Habs want to jump up for Demidov that has potential as trade partner given Habs have additional 1st this year (Jets) and several potential prospects they can offer in deal (Someone like Mesar)

Mesar is garbage. If the Habs are offering up a prospect willingly, it’s because they suck. I’m not trading #2 for #5, a late first and a crappy prospect.

If the Habs want #2 that bad, it’s gonna hurt them. Owen Beck or Josh Roy are the only guys I would even consider, and even then it’s hard to trade from #2.
