Kevyn Adams again. This time with a question about Jacob Trouba (He can’t speak about other teams playing), so he deflects:

I don't know why people are hating on Grier. I think he is doing a pretty good job. And consolidating some of those LD into other pieces is a good move. Also, I always wanted the Rangers to get him in his prime. A bull of a player.

Here's a little list with some very brief comments of players I'd be looking for with the mid/late picks based off their projected rankings. I left off some that I think probably land in the 2nd and included some that might be borderline.

USHL/USNTDP
Brodie Ziemer (W)
- Skilled 2-way winger
Max Plante (F) - Smallish playmaker
Christian Humphreys (F) - Playmaker
Mac Swanson (W) - Undersized high end playmaker
Hagen Burrows (W) - Big crafty winger, won Minnesota player of the year, meh skater
James Reeder (W) - Skilled, high energy
Austin Burnevik (W) - Overager, 6'4 good offensive tools, poor skater
Gavyn Thoreson (W) - Overager, undersized with skill and motor
Tory Pitner (RHD) - Shutdown defender
Noah Powell (W) - Overager, goal scoring power forward

Europe
Simon Zether (C)
- Big skilled 2-way center
Oskar Vuollet (W) - Good offensive tools
Noel Fransén (LHD) - Mobile, offensive defender
Alexander Zetterberg (F) - small, dynamic player, going NCAA route
Eric Bürger (LHD) - Mobile, 2-way defender
Melvin Fernström (W) - Talented goal scorer
Petter Vesterheim (C) - Overager, another talented Norwegian, projectable 2-way center
Tomáš Galvas (LHD) - Undersized, great skating 2-way defender
Jan Kavan (G) - Overager, handful of games in the top Czech league
Heikki Ruohonen (C) - 2-way center, good frame, going NCAA route
Topias Hynninen (W) - 2-way winger, spent most of the year in Liiga
Jere Lassila (C) - Overager, another 2-way Finn, leader
Janne Naukkarinen (F) - Overager, good frame, top 6 forward in Liiga

CHL
Tomas Mrsic (W)
- Offensive ability, good shot
Miguel Marques (W) - Dynamic, boom or bust type
Clarke Caswell (W) - Playmaker, 2-way ability
Gavin Hodnett (W) - Another undersized high skill boom or bust type
Oliver Tulk (F) - Overager, similar profile, competitive undersized player
Tyler Thorpe (W) - Overager, Drury sort of pick, big 6'5 bottom line sort of guy
Alexandre Blais (W) - Another skill guy
Justin Poirier (W) - 50 goal scorer, dynamic high energy sniper, undersized
Eriks Mateiko (W) - big 6'5 Latvian power forward
Spencer Gill (RHD) - Project pick, big guy with some tools
Raoul Boilard (C) - 2-way center
Luke Misa (F) - Another high skill guy, has some traits that could lend itself to a speedy third line type if the offense doesn't fully translate. May end up a winger
Jacob Battaglia (W) - NHL size, good tools
Anthony Cristoforo (RHD) - Missed expectations, bounce back candidate
Anthony Romani (F) - Overager, boom or bust offensive player
Nathan Villeneuve (C) - Projectable 2-way center with some skill
Kevin He (W) - Projects as a role player, another high motor 2-way forward

Russia
Fyodor Avramov (W) -
6'3 NHL frame, crafty skilled winger with some edge
Matvei Babenko (W) - Underwhelming draft year, I see a lot of similarities to BJs Kirill Marchenko
Ilya Pautov (W) - Dynamic offensive skills, has some compete
Andrei Krutov (W) - Another high skill type
Alexei Dontsov (C) - Undersized but competitive/physical, plenty of offensive tools, both special teams
Daniil Anatsky (C) - Big 6'3 center. I don't think his offensive ability is as good as his numbers suggest, Surayev was really the play driver on his line. But if he can develop he has some tools to be a bottom 6 type
Yegor Graf (C) - Demidov's sidekick this year, decent amount of skill
Yegor Solovyov (W) - Overager, good frame to match the talent
Ilya Nabokov (G) - Overager, one of the top KHL goalies this season
Pavel Moysevich (G) - Possibly another impressive goalie coming from SKA, yet again
Timur Kol (LHD) - Big mobile defender with some ability. They always project well
Makar Khanin (W) - Overager, dynamic play driver
Magomed Sharakanov (LHD) - Overager, good skater, creative, uses his size well
Ilya Ivantsov (C) - Overager, playmaking 2C in the KHL
Grigori Kuzmin (W) - Overager, undersized, stylistically very similar to Zuccarello, not overly fast but shifty and elusive, uber creative playmaker

Might've missed some CHL guys. I watched more Euro/Russia hockey and USHL action then anything else this year

If anyone is a gambling man, Marek on the late night podcast thinks the Ducks are taking Buium at 3, odds for him at 3rd pick are still anywhere from +1200 to +1400 across various books.

Pretty sweet that it’s draft day already. I predict that the Rangers don’t make the pick at #30 but we’re all going to be entertained regardless.

If we do somehow make the pick, I am on record as wanting Alfons Freij.

And nothing from Drury. What a surprise.

Drury hates the spotlight. When Jeanneret passed away in Buffalo, Biron called up Drury asking if he would come to Buffalo to say something about Jeanneret during the ceremonie at Keybank Arena.

Drury's response: "Marty. You're asking me to do the 2 things I hate: Speak in public, and talk about other people"

Ideally, I’d love to find a way to get one of Beaudoin, Boisvert, or Hage, but I think they’re all gone by 30. Basha, Freij, or O’Reilly are in that next tier for me.

I’d rather use 30 as a way to get McGroarty if it came to it.

For a later pick, David Green seems like an interesting draft and stash LD with good offensive potential
