I'm curious to see peoples opinions on certain player comparisons between players I think are in a similar tier that I have flip-flopped on over time.
For my comparisons, these are generally players that are similar in position, size, and age.
The six players that came to mind when making this thread are:
Teddy Stiga v. Max Plante
Both players play for the USNTDP U18 team, with Plante having missed some games. They both seem to suffer from a lack of high end speed, but both are fairly agile. They also both seem to have a high work rate, even if they both need to get stronger to be more effective in battles.
Clarke Caswell v. Andrew Basha
I would certainly have Basha ahead as of this moment, but it's hard not to compare their two teams and wonder if Caswell isn't suffering from a lack of talent around him. Caswell has had 1 fewer game without any points than Basha, but hasn't had any 3+ point games like Basha has, so they have had similar levels of consistency with production this year.
Alexandre Blais v. Tanner Howe
Both late '05's, but Howe had the benefit of riding shotgun to Bedard for the first 2 years of his junior career. Howe is having a respectable season as the Captain of the Pats in the post-Bedard era, meanwhile Blais is having a breakout year, on pace for 94 points in the Q.
I'd like to hear from others about prospects they think are similar and have a tough time declaring one better than the other.
