I mean I’m going to show up and cheer for Flames wins. I’m not starting off hoping for a non-playoff year. If this team surprises and makes the playoffs well great. But if we are well out come trade deadline different story. But not cheering for a poor season right from the start.

Well I'm cheering for a tank and a bottom 5 finish. Does that make me a bad Flames fan? Or just a realistic one who really prefers a AA+ draft pick over an A or B+ one for the sake of the team rebuild. And there is no denying it... we are in a rebuild.

Losing our first to Montreal and drafting in the mid to late 20's with Florida's 1st rounder would be a complete failure of a season. As an organization the Flames goal for the season should be to draft one of Hagens, Ryabkin, Frondell, Misa or McQueen and that means a bottom 5-10 finish, if that means shipping off Rasmus and more vets to make that happen then so be it.

As long as Wolf shows promise for the season, that's all I'm really looking forward to other than Zary continuing to improve. Also Coronato to take a leap would be awesome.

There is a massive difference between cheering for losses and expecting losses. You can cheer for the team and still expect them to lose.

If we are in the latter half of the season and the Flames are outside of the bottom 10 in league standings you bet I'll be cheering for every game to be a loss. Finishing outside of the bottom 10 will be a disaster for the Flames and wasted year in the team rebuild. Our 1st rnd pick becomes Montreal's pick and we are left with a late rnd Florida pick and NJ's pick which could also potentially be a late rnd pick.
I'll cheer for individual players to play well but I'm honest with myself and I'll be hoping and cheering for a bottom 5 and anything less than bottom 10 and I'll be terribly disappointed.
For me, cheering for the team to win and do well is just lying to myself.

This hadn't struck me before but Huska coached Barrie in Kelowna for 4 years, so while it was a long time ago, there is familiarity there... also Backlund was on the 2008-09 team w/ Barrie & Huska

Depends how you cheer. Hoping for a top pick as a silver lining is fine.

Cheering for losses for me feels like a, "With friends or supporters like this, who needs enemies?".

I want to see team growth and excitement to improve, then the silver lining is a higher calibre talent to add to that growth and accelerate the development of the team as a whole. I don't want to see a group playing like they're just going through the motions waiting to be replaced by someone better.

No doubt I will be conflicted in my cheering. My heart will be cheering for the win but my brain will be cheering for the loss. Hopefully I'll get to watch many games where the Flames played well but just not well enough most nights.

The jersey looks so lame. Just a big ad for gambling right next to the flaming C, the captain jerseys will look even dumber having 2 patches above the C.

I pray that the merch ones we buy don't have this stupid patch on them. Probably will to make Albertan's look like bigger degenerates (not hating on those who gamble in general, but sports gambling has gotten ridiculous).

I liked the forward line combinations from today. If a couple Dmen suprise this team might not be picking top 10

Calgary, Alberta
Watched a clip yesterday of a Rasmus interview where he said to the assembled reporters something to the effect of "no offence, but we don't give a shite about what you write".

The context is that the writers are amping up we're going to be a losing team and will continue to trade vets narrative.

So Toronto of them in my view. And good for Ras in calling them out.

What do you guys think of Kuzmenko? Can he have a 70 + point seaon based on how he did in Calgary last year? Can he outscore Kadri? Can anyone in the team outscore Kadri?

30 goals 20 assists seems reasonable

We literally advertise sports gambling on our jerseys and in arena ads while actively punishing players for sports gambling
They can sports gamble, it just can't be on hockey, or placed by someone else.

It depends completely on how our team does at 5v5 if we get caved in then no, but if we can actually compete at 5v5 then sure. I have no doubt Kumenko will produce on the powerplay. I would say a 35 goal, 25 assist pace is probably within reason all things considered. Very good chance he gets traded before he reaches those totals though

Huberdeau can outscore Kadri, whether it happens or not is a different question.
