Less than two months to go before the 5th Development Cup gets underway. Here are a couple of news about it so far.
Back in November, it was announced on social media the tournament would take place in Trofa, near Porto, Portugal. But it looks like the tournament has been moved as Eishockey Liechtenstein is announcing the event is back at Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava, Slovakia. The dates are 21st-27th April.

A record seven teams will compete. Reigning champion Liechtenstein will defend its title. Argentina, Colombia, Ireland and Portugal are also back. 11 years after their last WC participation, Greece is back playing an IIHF event. Meanwhile, Brazil will adventure for the first time outside the Americas, having competed so far only at the PanAm tournament in Mexico and the Latam Cup in the US.
On their social media, Greek Ice Hockey tells us what are the current eligibility rules for the tourney (translation by GoogleTranslate):

So, if understood it well, almost all of last summer's Latam Cup roster is ineligible to represent Greece at the moment, with Thessaloniki-born Mavridis being the only one called for the 1st tryout last weekend. Some of the 2013 roster were also there such as Ploutsis, G. Kalyvas, Valsamas-Rallis or Pachos to name a few. Also from WCs days, Ioannis (John) Koufis is the team's GM.

A bit surprised the Irish haven't made any announcement yet as they usually are among the first ones to do so.
As usual, looking forward to this tourney!
