Thinking the 2 big power forwards and 2 goalies go 6-9... then at 10 there is another drop in quality.

Top 5 and Tiers

1.Savioe - top line wing potential. Only blue chip in bad prospect system. Arrival this season or next.

2.O'Reilly - future hard ice 3C replacement. Big development year ahead with see if offensive potential manifests with junior team opportunity. Arrival three years..
3. Akey - prospective mid-size, puck mover 3 RD with some stretch upside to reach 2RD. Arrival window in three years.
4. Wanner - prospective hard ice goal suppression defender 3RD. Arrival window in two to three seasons.

5.Jarventie - second organization established AHL player with NHL games in. Recovery time on major injury with opportunity to complete for top 9 forward job in two seasons.
5.B Lavoie - big, productive mid-range shooter among the youngest of AHL top 10 goal scorers and at crossroads of NHL opportunity in Edmonton.

This prospect pool honestly doesn't look that bad considering we are a Cup favourite.

Rodrigue is my choice here but it's annoying how we will have to put him on waivers.

Rodrigue here with a bullet. Should clear waivers this year but could find himself on the big club in short order.

A Lavoie trade wouldn't surprise me. Depth is looking a little light at LD.

It should be a good pool to supplement the team with but we could really use a couple top prospects who could replace the likes of Nuge and Ekholm as they start to age out.

I really wonder if they would look at Lavoie for a guy like Matthew Robertson if both clear waivers, along the same lines of the Kostin/Samorukov swap from a few years ago.

That's a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams.

I’d say Savoie and O’Reilly are strong C prospects. One has great offensive ability and the other one is a good 2-way guy. Can’t really ask for more if we’re always picking late in the 1st

Akey and Wanner have the tools to be good players. Ekholm himself was a later pick and developed slowly but properly.

That being said, I’d trade any and all of them for roster upgrades if a good deal came along (ala Ekholm trade)
