Exactly.
What do they have at that position?
Kop and Danault?
Kop is set to retire and they have nobody to take over 1C if they trade Byfield.
Byfield is 100% still their 2CByfield isn't even listed as a C for LAK anymore. He is a RW or a R/LW.
He's the 3rd line C in LA this year. He's played there all year and thats also shown in him taking almost 600 faceoffs this season. By far the third most and Noone else is anywhere close. They are trying to ease him into being a C full time before Kopitar retires.Byfield isn't even listed as a C for LAK anymore. He is a RW or a R/LW.
it's unlikely but sanheim was traded if krug was willing to waive his trade protection and after the trade fell thru I think it was dreger who reported the jets were interested in him, they were unable to move him but since then he has played better and it might be a good time for philly to capitalize on that
From the date of the trade deadline onwards roster limits are removed you could carry 40 players if you wanted as long as it's under the cap it's legal.
Byfield is 100% still their 2C
Kings would be insane to trade him and they would need a rantanen type deal so we are out
Kyrou though... i could see that deal get done
Puckpedia has him listed as a C, but NHL.com lists him as an RWEP, HockeyDB and LAK official roster page all list him as a winger. Just reporting those facts. I take no responsibility.![]()
Ya, I think if Chevy trades for someone, a player must be waived.“There may be a maximum of 23 players on each Club's playing roster at any one time from the commencement of the NHL regular season through the trade deadline.“
I take this as roster limits change either at 3pm when the deadline ends, or the day after the deadline, as it says through the deadline.
Roster sizes are unlimited after the deadline, but salary cap is still in effect through the last day of the regular season. Once playoffs commence, there is no longer a salary cap restriction.

That or sent as part of the returnYa, I think if Chevy trades for someone, a player must be waived.
Ya, I should have said the roster has to be 23 or under. That or sent as part of the return
Technically the TDL should be called the PRDL…Playoff Roster Deadline..as trades can still happen after the deadline, but only players on a teams active roster by the end of the deadline, can play for that team in that years playoffs. Any players acquired after the deadline are not eligible for playoffs duties.Ya, I should have said the roster has to be 23 or under.
I feel like I have gone insane, teams make trades constantly with 23 man rosters on deadline day without waiving but the rules clearly state it's not till after midnight on the day of and there is nothing else in the rule book saying anything else on this matter.Ya, I think if Chevy trades for someone, a player must be waived.

This feels like a perfect question to send in for the 32 thoughts podcast hotline, they love digging into rules like thatI feel like I have gone insane, teams make trades constantly with 23 man rosters on deadline day without waiving but the rules clearly state it's not till after midnight on the day of and there is nothing else in the rule book saying anything else on this matter.
So either teams do waive and I am misremembering or there is another rule in there that allows this on the day.

If I remember correctly, there are limits on recalls (callups), I think it’s 4 regular allowed…But sending a player down when there’s no roster limit doesn't make sense, unless you really have cap problems. What about AHL callups?
Extended Ehlers for ByfieldIt would be the last straw for Blake in LA if he traded Byfield, he got murdered by the PLD trade and should tread lightly with trades
That's not how WPG/LA trades go down, would be more like.....Extended Ehlers for Byfield![]()
Doh! Meant Pelech. Always mix up the names of those 2.If we could get Pulock for that I’d be ecstatic, but I definitely wouldn’t play him on the 3rd pairing on his off side
