I think the Jets hot start and Snergs injury affords just that.

Give him the job, throw him with Demelo on the second pair and see if he can play his way into being a regular
Interesting - I like this idea

Will be neat to see how they balance the lines.

Ville looked to have an assist last night in the Moose win and has had a good amount of ice time last few games.

I hope he gets a good amount of runway to remind us why he made the team out of camp last year - a team that was arguably “more” stacked on defence with Schmidt and Dillon

Ivan Provorov or Marcus Pettersson anyone?
Olli Maatta for me. Below the radar. Was already traded for a 3rd this year. But Utah is falling back of the pack with some key injuries to d-men. Probably could get him for a 3rd and a b level prospect. Unless Utah thinks he has more deadline value.

Derek Forbort is another guy who could be available. With some experience on this team.

We saw Sid he is not the same as he was when he was younger. Why mortgage futures for a player on the decline. That is essentially 3 1sts you can get a better piece for all that.
He got over 90 points the last 2 years and is trending to 80 this year. He would be a fantastic 2C IMO and might make us cup favorites. But…is he worth offering the 3 1sts as proposed? I suppose not due to his contract and our salary cap

if Crosby is available and says i want to play in Winnipeg & ultimately finish my career there, you can bet the Jets will make that happen. from a team improvement standpoint & a $$$-making standpoint (he will put asses in seats)

So you think if the price is Perfetti + Lambert + a first, that's a wise decision?

That's basically removing 33% of your cost controlled top 6 future plus whatever the first ends up being for 2 years of Crosby.

There's no way the Jets do that with their model of staying competitive through d&d.

It's a nice dream but would never ever happen.

Plus we would surely get outbid by a team with a dumber GM.

no, i didn't say that at all. just commenting on the viability of this team being interested if he was available. id do a 1st+lambert though, that's around what id'd expect in a TDL deal for him.

Crosby for Lambert and a 1st i would do in a heartbeat but Pittsburgh would probably want more than that.

Jets fans should hope that Crosby doesn't get traded because if he did I suspect the only place he would play is Colorado.

But his 80 this year is less impressive than!80 when scoring was lower.

points ranks is probably better to scale against different eras. 14th overall last season, and 33rd this year. if you're attempting to allude to he's not the same player he was 10+ years ago, well no shit. doesn't mean he still isn't one of the game's bests.

he has a full nmc so he ultimately says where he goes. i can see playing with a fellow hometown boy being v appealing to him.

If Crosby wanted to be anywhere except Pittsburgh, he would have gone to UFA and cashed in instead of taking a discount to stay

He's won his cups (and everything else). Playing for one org his entire career is more important to him than another cup IMHO. If he was still chasing his first, maybe this would be a convo worth having

Coincidentally, Sportsnet is talking about just that issue right now.

Yup, the chances that he goes anywhere is incredibly slim, and if he does he isn't coming here. Colorado might be one of the few places he'd agree to go.

True - but I doubt he anticipated Pens being as bad as they are.

Big IF he changed his mind any and all contenders might be considered. Who knows? Some have suggested Col and that might make sense. OTOH, they don't particularly need another top 6 C. He might look at Jets and consider himself the key piece to put us over the top.

Or maybe he would prefer going to the Bruins. I know they are bad this year too but he wouldn't need to change uniforms, just the crest on the front.

If MacKinnon says they should pick up Crosby for a run, they'll go for it. I think it's the only place Crosby would agree to go if he was open to moving.

Seattle may have to make a move to free up the cap space to activate Vince Dunn. They will surely put Eberle on LTIR but I'm not sure that move will free up enough space, if it does then they will be operating right at the cap with limited flexibility. Thier top 4 of the future is pretty clearly Dunn, Montour, Evans, and Larsson. That leaves both Oleksiak and Borgen as potential targets that would actually need to be moved sooner than later. I can see Chevy being interested in either player Borgen has the lower cost likely just picks. Oleksiak is probably a pick plus a prospect. Jets are one of the only for sure buyers with cap space this early in the season so there could be limited competition.
