+11% is verging on horrid. I am not 100% versed on the statistical input and calculation, however; since the tested value is cumulative, Laughton needs to have a Selke-level 250 TOI of high-danger and medium-danger shot suppression to become Net 0. It’s a bit baffling if you really value culture that heavily over the output. Torts a D centric coach. This should make him irate.

Torts is enamored with particular ideas of defense. The actual execution and overall results are meaningless. And he did tell us he'd be completely checked out on that level when he was hired, so no surprise there I guess.

Looks like Shaw used Drysdale's downtime to school him, he looks totally different, like a guy who was worth that #6 draft pick, using his speed to drive play on offense, getting back on defense.

Only reason he was on the PK was Sanheim and Seeler were both in the penalty box.

Chemistry is a funny thing, Torts was juggling lines for a couple months, now he's hit on 4 groups, all of whom are playing at a high level. Same with Andrae - Risto, who seem to be a perfect fit.

This is how teams take off, you find the right combo and suddenly everything falls into place.
Since that horrid 7 game start (road trip from hell combined with goalies who were trying to get Peterson promoted), they been at a 104 point pace the last 22 games.

Can they keep it up? Who knows.

Is there a highlight reel for Michkov since he’s gotten to the flyers yet? I can only find pre flyers, or individual game highlights.

Any news or rumors on a York extension? With Andrae’s emergence and Sanny playing well I’m starting to wonder if York could be a trade chip to bring in our much needed Young center.

It was pretty evident they weren’t comfortable with having three “small” defenseman in the lineup based off of Andrae not making the team out of camp.

If they used York as an excuse not to draft Buium and then trade York 6 months later, I am going to be furious.

Plus, York isn’t bringing back a 1C in a trade. First line centers are rarely available via trade unless they’ve fallen out with their team ala Eichel. You need to find one via the draft which is why so many are frustrated with the Flyers inability to realize that being an average team is the worst thing to be in today’s NHL.

I would advocate a light pumping of the Andrae emergence brakes. He has looked very good in most of his 19 games, though.

You are correct in your statements. I was more or less thinking a Seth Jones for Johansen type trade or packaging York with picks to get into the top 5 of the draft.

Although both scenarios rarely happen and I would be surprised if they moved York. Even if they did I’m not sure I have faith in Danny to swing such a trade. I also am higher on York than most so I’d rather they keep him. The lack of extension talks has surprised me thus far.

Agreed.

Only positive is that if a situation where lets say a Center, or even a top D like Werenski (thought about this last night during the game) becomes available this year, we have to at least be considered as a suitor because of the draft picks we own.

We'll see how good Buium turns out to be.
He's shown no improvement this season
1.19 ppg as a freshman, +33
1.19 ppg this season +6

Fox broke out his junior season. 1.44 ppg, +23, so there's time.

However, Fox wasn't playing with the same level of offensive talent as Buium.
No forward scored a ppg, best talents were Casey Dornbach, Zerter-Gossage, Jack Drury, Zach Rathbone.

Last year, Buium had Zach Devine (1.27), Rizzo (1.47), and 7 other forwards who were draft picks
This year, Buium has Devine (1.56), Thompson (1.38), Harris (1.13) and 6 more forwards who were drafted.

Yeah it's a real shame Buium is just repeating his incredible season again this year. No improvement? Bust.

It wasn't incredible, it was very good, but compare to say Fox, who was incredible given the talent around him his junior season.
It's not that Buium won't be a good NHL D-man, but he has yet to take the step up that signals he'll be something special.
Meanwhile Dickinson is blowing everyone away in the OHL. 5th in points and he's much bigger and faster than Buium. I think that's the player Briere was targeting, and probably tried to trade up to get.

Real shame this team passed on Dickenson like they did Buium.

Never mentioned Buium before late July 2024.

Never mentioned Dickinson before the draft except to compare his scoring to Bonk.

Frankly, I don't believe you know a thing about what Buium did last year that someone couldn't get from checking Elite Prospects. Same goes for anything Fox did at Harvard. The people that watch these games tend to talk about them. Now I don't know much either, but I understand that. And I sure as shit know I have no idea who they were targeting.

They had to have scouted Dickinson extensively since he's on the same team with Bonk and Barkey.

He fits what they were looking for, a big mobile offensively skilled D-man who is a potential #1.
